I just watched this again and it has to be one of my favorite movies ever!I ball every time I see it.For anyone who watched and didn't really understand it watch it again because it's much easier to follow each time you watch it!You do have to be some what of a theater person I guess to really enjoy it!

It's breathtaking.:)

I think there's a particular Moulin Rouge Diser around here...she should get a whiff of this thread shortly.;)

I love it, DW hates it. And I agree - a love of theatre helps to make you a lover of this movie.

But I mean, I really love it, and DW really hates it.

...Different strokes.

We love it too. Have you seen Chicago yet? It's even better.

I, too love Moulin Rouge, as does my husband. My mom, on the otherhand couldn't stand it... however, she was never involved with theatre, except to come and see whatever production I was in.

Chicago was also phenomenal. My only regret is that Catherine Zeta-Jones wasn't nominated in the Best Supporting Actress Catagory, so she too could have stood on stage and accepted her much deserved award as did Renee Zellweiger, Richard Gere and John C Reilly!

They all deserved to win... too bad there weren't enough catagories to go around!

The first time I watched Moulin Rouge I almost turned it off about half way through but stuck with it. When it was over, I thought Hmmm, maybe I liked that after all. So I waited about a week and rented it again. I loved it and bought the DVD plus both CD soundtracks. My son is always saying "Are you watching that movie again?" I know lots of people who didn't make it through the whole movie and I tell them to watch it again. It seems to be a movie you either love or hate. I think I will watch it again tonight (my son will be so thrilled  )

I tell everyone who says they hated it, to watch it again and give it 20 minutes...

DH and I both LOVED it....after the first 20 minutes

lilboo:yes I did smell it out:)

My sn and avatar should be no suprise that I love this movie.Satine is one of my favorite characters of Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor gained a fan in me after this movie

I love the scene when they first enter the Moulin Rouge. There is so much energy and the camera-work is phenomenal.

It will be interesting on 2/4 to find out who is nominated for an academy award from Chicago. Hopefully Zeta-Jones will get a nomination as well as Renee' and Richard Gere.

I liked it alot but I really only watched it because John leguizamo was in it.....

I consider myself fairly open-minded and I usually like somewhat off-beat movies (Memento, Sunshine State, American Psycho) but I turned off Moulin Rouge after 15 minutes. Hmmm maybe I should have waited the full 20?

Bizarre.
