Does anyone have any ideas for a cool kind of math concept that is fun and interesting and that would fill a two minute presentation? thanks

How about function tables? Today was "take your parent to school day" & that is what my 6th graders class was working on.

So that is the type of thing you are looking for?

How about Pascal's triangle and one of its many applications?

Ooh, ooh, former math teacher in me gets excited about this one!!!

Maybe the different types of symmetry. This could be very visual with showing different examples both in pictures and things in the room.

Or, tesellations. Don't know how hands on you can be or what supplies you might have. What shapes do and don't tessellate individually? Which ones will tessellate together? (think tiling the floor)

Probabilities. Coin flips, dice rolls, predictions...

Maybe some simple origami and looking at different geometric solids?

Hope you find what you need! :sunny:

My favorite math assignment of all time was when the kids brought home the M&M math book. I had to do that one several times to make sure I understood it :lmao: .

What about baking and doubling a recipe?

Magic Square is always fun (and way more interesting than Sudoku)

Tessalations are good as well.
