Any luck with National ID's and Coupons codes

Using the 57 code tomorrow, will report back tomorrow night and let you know how it went.

used it today, no problems at all! Total for 7 days, Full Size Executive level, was $92.xx. Used the 57 code and the $35 off coupon. Got a Volvo of some sort, leather seats, sun roof, very nice.

:bitelip: So I just reserved a minivan for 9 days using the 8572967 code for .....$260. Yay!! I am very excited.:woohoo:

Playing around with the codes and found 8572977 works just like the 67 code. the 35 off does not work, but you can use entertainment 2 class upgrade and that does work.

Playing around with codes you'll certainly hit the "jackpot" sometimes, but you may have no idea of the possible ID requirements.
I'm not saying the will or won't require, just that anyone who reads this board and chooses a code found this way needs to know they should do some searching and decide for themselves whether they're comfortable with the potential risk.

:drive: I promised I would get back to this thread with the results of my car rental -- Got back from our WDW trip that started June 17th and ended yesterday July 1st!!! Rented a car with the 67 code, National $35.00 coupon (expired 6/30) and E.A. Got a nice Chevy Equinox (I'd reserved a midsize.....) which was perfect for me, my teen girls (2 daughters and a niece) and our luggage. Rate was for $225.00 just as the original reserved rate was for. My words to pass on is that if the id/coupon works when you book, it will work when you show up to rent. If you rent and get a good rate then DON'T worry about it unless you like to worry!

And I agree with those that have tried to keep a lid on things, don't call the company, it will only draw attention to it. If you don't feel comfortable booking it then don't do it!!

Have fun to all those going to see the mouse!!

I just went to the website to try to use the 67 code. When I plugged in my dates I got a message saying that this site is currently sold out for my dates, please click on the link to be directed to Enterprise. When I took off the 67 code, lo and behold I was able to book. I then tried to use my Entertinment Book and coupon, again I was able to book. So it looks like the 67 code is gone.

Beat me to it. I was just messing around and found the same thing. This was for random dates at MCO, random dates at IND and random dates at PHX. It will be interesting to see if people can actually rent with the reservations they have- I admit I have one booked in September that I didn't cancel AND a backup at Alamo with a Costco coupon/code I am entitled to. It is only $40 more and I am fine with that. Just waiting to see if people can use this on existing reservations!

Just to add a bit more information. It looks like you cant modify existing reservations either. I wanted to change my drop off time because we are taking an earlier flight now and it gave me the same message.

Real curious now to see if anyone can use an existing reservation using the 67 code.

I am sooo glad I made a backup reservation with Alamo before the rates went sky high...

There is no mystery here. If you booked with the code and it accepted it at the time of booking then that is the rate you will pay when you pickup/turn in your rental no matter if you pick up your rental today or this fall.

National is not accepting some of these codes for future reservations. Simple as that.

Existing reservations are honored.
So those that have booked with that code, keep those reservations!
It will work! :thumbsup2

I just modified my 67 reservation on July 1- I needed to change the times by a couple hours as well as the airline and flight number. I added the new National coupon, too. No problem.

It isn't unusual for codes to sell out for certain dates. I tried for a cheap minivan last March when they had them on sale for some low price like $149 per week at Alamo but they were sold out.

What is the new national coupon that you used?

I had a ressie with the 67 code and tried to modify it and it automatically cancelled it. I was able to rebook with the time change, but it would not allow me to use any coupons with it. The rate without coupons was so much better than all the other coupons I tried! :confused3

It's been posted on FT that Burbank isn't honoring reservations made with these codes.

Posters are advised to have a backup reservation and not trust posters who say don't worry. We don't have the slightest idea if/when MCO will start refusing to honor improper rates.

I've never done a backup reservation for a car reservation. What do you do for canceling the one you don't use? Are there fees for not canceling on time charged by any of the main rental places like National, Dollar, Alamo?

For example, if I keep my National "67" rental but make a backup reservation through Alamo, I'll have to tell Alamo that I don't need their car. But it will already be the time that I'd set to rent the car by that point. That gives Alamo no notice to be able to rent it to someone else. :confused3
