I've usually had good luck selling items on ebay, but recently it's been rough! Anyone have any luck lately?

I just listed my DD and DS's spring/summer clothes in March and made more this year then ever before ;)

That's great! I usually have good luck with my dd clothes, especially her sundresses, but had 15 auctions end Sunday with not 1 bid! Ugh.

I have concert tickets up and just lowered them $100. I do have clothes and stuff I have to gather and start listing. I like to try things on craigslist first for a few days to see if I get bites before paying the fees.

I've been doing AWFUL lately...maybe I am just listing crap:rolleyes1

I'm surprised kid's clothes sell..are these like expensive name brand things?

I had a couple of weeks were things were going like mad before Easter, but now it seems to have slowed down. I have about 15 things ending on Friday with no bids on them :sad1:

Since the fee increase, I've been trying to avoid eBay. Prior to that, I was actually having pretty good success.

I've been wanting to get rid of a stroller but I can't get past the fees. :headache:

I ditched Ebay for Craigslist but still have trouble selling clothes. What I have not sold off by May I will take to the flea market.

I have listed a bunch of DD's clothes and its not going well. I dropped the starting bids lower than normal and still nothing. I am so bummed, I have a bunch of clothes to get rid of and I need the money for her new clothes.
Do you think we missed the time for spring/summer clothes or maybe people arent buying summer stuff yet??

I have an ebay store.. and sales have been wayyy down. What I don't get is, I had (4) auctions end today with no bids but anywhere from 10-30 people "watching" :confused3

re: kids clothes
I find the trick with kids clothes is once you find someone on craigslist to buy, try to get them to be a "regular." Email people just before you post new items. A woman bought a ton from me last spring when she was expecting, and she just came back a few weeks ago. I had everything out on my dining room table and she ended up spending a small fortune! I probably make the same as if I was selling on ebay, but w/o the fees and possibility of someone wanting to return an item.

What is left over goes to a kids resale shop that pays cash up front. Yes, I make less than ebay, but it is a 1 hour appt and I walk out with cash (and my bank has a branch next door! LOL) No posting, taking pictures, mailing, nagging for payments, paying fees, worrying you get a person who puts in a paypal claim... I did the ebay thing and this is so much less stressful!

For play clothes and pajamas, I find making a bag and listing on craigslist works (i.e. bag of 50 pieces of 3T summer clothes for $25)

try craigslist, I do really well with baby gear! Just this month I sold a crib, pack and play, bouncy seat and I have someone coming today to look at a Kettler trike. I also sold a 21" tv after we upgraded the one in our bedroom.

Plus with baby gear I tend to get a lot of expecting mom's or new grandma's... so far no strange people showing up for baby items!

Another thing that helps on craigslist is embedding large pictures. When you embed pics, they are larger and there is no limit on how many you can put on an ad. I currently have an ad for Hanna kids clothing that probably has 20 pictures.

I load pics on Picasaweb.com
- I click on the picture you want to embed
- select "link to this photo"
- select size to "large" and check off the box titled "hide album link"
- copy the website listed under "embed image"
- paste into your ad

The "season" for selling summer kids clothes on ebay is long past unless it is something really sought after. Most of the summer clothes do much better starting in February/March and ending at Easter. Next year try to get your summer stuff listed much earlier. Adult summer clothes season goes a bit longer.

Search in your area for a children's consignment SALE (not a store) where you tag your own items and take them in for a percentage of the selling price (50 to 55% usually). Sales like these are usually held twice a year - Spring and Fall - and takes anything kid related for that season. I just sold DS2's crib, changing table and big stroller at one this weekend and took the clothes and toys that didn't sell at that sale to another sale.

As far as the rest of the stuff on ebay - ugh. The new fee schedule and the screwed up categories are really driving sellers away and keeping buyers from finding items easily. I miss the good old days of ebay!

I have a bunch of clothes set aside to list, but after listing a handful of auctions yesterday and no nibbles what-so-ever (Gymboree clothes in very good used condition) I'm starting to rethink selling on eBay. Like pp'ers have said, the fees alone have driven sellers away -- and on top of that the buyers are going to consignment shops to get more for their $ (not having to pay for shipping).

I am hoping to make a few extra bucks for Disney ... I think I'm off to the resale shops instead of listing more :confused3

ETA: I just did some research on "Just Between Friends" sales in my area - like a PP mentioned, it is a mass consignment for Infant/Toddler/Child/Junior and Maternity - as well as shoes, baby gear and childrens sports equipment. You make up to 70% of the selling price, and you tag your own items so you set the price. This is in many states so if you are interested, Google "Just Between Friends" and see if it's available in your area!

I have not done very well at all this year. I usually make enough off of the kids outgrown clothes, to turn around and buy them what they need. But it's been really hard this year.
I've sold on E-bay for about 4 years now, and this has been the worst. Plus with the fee increase, if I do accidently sell something, I have to give 1/2 the money to E-bay and Paypal. :headache:
I think I'm going to give up on E-bay for now, maybe if enough people do, they will reconsider their greedy ways, and make the fees more manageable again.

If you have all Gymbo stuff, there are people out there who are really into it. I heard there are actually Gymbo message boards and they might have a thread where you can sell. I am in a selling yahoo group on the Baby Bargains message board and have had great luck, sold $70 in Hanna this week to one person-no fees! But... also try craigslist, you may find a Gymbo fan close by! I had some Lilly Pulitzer stuff on for a week and got a hit last night, woman lives in my town and bought 2 of the 3 outfits right away. Plus bought a she gymbo top.

I've been trying to sell some new disney adult tops and am practically trying to give them away and I don't even have anyone watching. I cleaned out some of my disney things I bought, but never wore and still have tags attached. I thought this would be the prefect time to try to sell some summer fun Disney fashion, but so far, nothing. This is the second time listing, but will be the last time and I'll pack them away for another time. Heck I tried to give away (free) some exercise equipment on the "list" and while some folks were interested everytime I email them I get no response back. crazy. (we even offered to deliver for a small fee for gas $$)

I used to sell on Ebay a lot..a real lot. But over the past couple years, the fees have gotten too high and the service Paypal and Ebay offer is too slanted towards the buyer. I don't sell much there anymore, I prefer to use Craigslist or donate.

In it's heyday-Ebay was the best. But today, it is more accurately referred to as Feebay.
