Hi all - we leave this Wednedsday (Feb 2nd) for WDW. I've been checking the weather with the 7 day forecast and it mentions "showers." To what degree does "showers" mean for February? Florida in Feb. is such a mixed bag of weather - but if it says "high 60's with showers possible," what should we expect? Thanks!

It usually doesn't rain in the winter. I checked weather.com and there is 40% chance of rain on Feb. 3rd. 20% on the 4th, 10% on the 5th, 0% on the 6th. Highs are in the upper sixties lower seventies. Lows are around 50 - don't forget a jacket. It cools off quick when the sun goes down.

Today, for instance, it has been a little misty. By this afternoon, it will probably clear off. Over the weekend, there will be spotty showers. Some will see periods of brief rain. Others will see no rain at all. It shouldn't be a problem.

Yeah showers this time of year rarely come with Thunder, and showers are pretty spotty. I'd be SHOCKED if it rained all day. It's pretty dry this time of year and showers are normally the VERY light kinds that are spotty. Now summer is a different story.

We have actually had a very rainy season for this time of the year. For whatever reason, every weekend, starting on Friday and ending on Monday, it has been cool and rainy. Better than the snows up north, but still not what you think about when you plan that warm, sunny trip to Florida in January or February

cool and rainy

When you say "rainy," has that been all day long or just off & on. Our trip is in a couple of weeks and we'll only be at the parks 2 days so we can't rearrange our schedule. There are 21 of us - most have either never been to WDW or haven't been in about 25 years. We're hoping for some great weather. Cold isn't so bad, but rainy with infants - not much fun.

Dont worry it's warming up. I live south of disney and it's supposed to be 80 by week's end. :wizard:

This weekend is going to be cool (in the low 60s is cool for us) and rainy. The rain may not be all day long, but intermittant. If fact, it could be raining at MK and clear at AK. Florida weather is very unpredictable.

MY SIL is coming next weekend and according to the long range forecast, it is supposed to start being rainy on Thursday, and continue into Friday. They haven't forecast anything past that.

Bring umbrellas and ponchos.

So a rain coat is adequate? We won't need real heavy winter coats? We were there 2years ago with 30 temps - much colder then Colorado's 30 degrees. Any other packing suggestions we wouldn't think of? Thanks again :wave2:

I always bring a fleece jacket, hats and gloves. It can be very chilly in the morning and evening this time of year.

"but if it says "high 60's with showers possible," what should we expect?"

If that is what is says, that is what you should expect. "showers possible" means that it is possible to see a shower somewhere in the general Orlando area, not a definate all over Orlando & not all day long. Showers usually mean spotty rain, Rain usually means for an extended period of time (I am from NY & it meant the same there too) The weather here in Fl can be very iffy this time of year... yes we are normally dry this time of year, but the past 7 months or so have been anything but "normal" We normally do not get hit with hurricanes in the middle of the state & we did, not once but 3 times in x amout of weeks (total of 4 in 6 weeks!! normal NO). To me, there is no more "normal". I am 3 hours SW of Orlando & we had a terrible rain storm 2 Saturdays ago. It was so bad (winds and all) that it was making the black felt paper (was getting my roof replaced from Charley) flap & rain got under it causing the wood to get wet & the roofing company had to tear up the felt & replace the wood before laying the shingles... is that type of rain storm normal for this time of year..No it isn't, but it happened. Weather isn't an exact science either. I have heard them saying on the radio, while driving to work in the pouring rain, that it will be sunny all day!?!? I would pack a jacket, hat & gloves to be on the safe side (or depending on where you are coming from you should be wearing them anyway). I would bring pants, capris, t-shirts & long sleve shirts. You may want to "layer" your clothes. I wouldn't bring sleveless shirts (maybe one pair of shorts??). You can bring a poncho, or pick one up in the parks for the rain. One thing I can tell you, you will not experience the rain we get in the summer this time of year. By the way, they did say showers for my area this weekend. :umbrella:

There is a saying here in Florida... if you don't like the weather, wait 30 minutes!

We have the same exact saying here in Colorado too ;) Thanks for all the replies. Not packing the right clothes can get real frustrating - especially with the kiddos. It stinks when I'm cold - but I especially can't stand to see them cold :guilty: Thanks again!

Ain't that the truth about 30s not being the same in FL as CO!! We were at a MVMCP this past December and I was the coldest I have ever been in my entire life, no lie! (Especially on the boat to FW, brrrrr) It's not like I am not familiar with winter either since I grew up in the upper Midwest and now live in CO.

That said, we are leaving for WDW on Tuesday and we are not bringing our big winter coats. Water repellent jackets and fleece for layering plus gloves and hats for sure.

Where in Colorado are you? It's seems screwy when you leave Colorado for Florida and end up with colder weather at WDW the you have at home :confused3 Have a great trip!

Yeah, we get a very damp cold that goes right through to your bones here, where places up north or to the midwest get a dry cold, which I find much more tolerable.

Name of the game down here....Layer, Layer, Layer!

Today it started out a very pretty day. At 8 am there was sunshine, not a cloud in the sky. Now it is back to cloudy and damp---ugh! I will be glad when April gets here!:)

I'll take the mist and the scattered showers anyday over ice pellets and snow flalkes and northerly winds... :rotfl2:
