Any legitimately spicy food at the parks?

Hi folks, I'm a spicy food lover - Thai, Chinese, Indian, it's all good!

Are there any restaurants in the parks that have any legitimately spicy food? I've always been leery of "spicy" food recommendations (apparently my circle of friends and acquaintances consists of people who think butter is a spice...), but there has to be something interesting out there at WDW!

On my last trip I found a few spicy nibbles in Animal Kingdom and enjoyed the flavorful food at the Moroccan pavilion.

Any other recommendations?

I don't know that it was SUPPOSED to be spicy, but the "Tastes Like Chicken Because it Is" at Skipper's Canteen was spicy. I also like spicy...generally prefer super flavorful spice not "hot" spicy. The dish was almost hard to eat. It tasted like the sauce had been maybe over-reduced? Or maybe it's supposed to taste like that.

Some of them have hot sauce. Some won't. Most of them wont' advertise the fact and will only bring it if you ask for it.

I do not believe you will find anything that is spicy of what you would expect from the outside. There was one place that I knew of that did still add some spice like it or not but that has since stopped since they started taking the DP. If you do want a little spice go to a TS and ask and you may receive but do not expect it to be on par with outside... I was fortunate enough to work with a Thai person who pointed us to authentic.. I like spicy but some was a little a much.

By spicy, do you just mean "flavorful with interesting spices other than salt and pepper" or do you mean hot? If you are asking for hot foods, no...I have not found anything I would consider hot. Of course, spice heat is entirely dependent on your tolerance and mine is moderately high though nowhere near where it was when I was younger. Your best bet is to ask your sever if they are able to make a dish hotter for you.

If you mean spicy flavorful then yes! All three restaurants at Animal Kingdom Lodge are fabulous. They use very interesting combinations of spices.

I agree with the above - I have yet to find anything "hot". However, Sanaa and Boma (have not been to Jiko...), do a wonderful job of seasoning their food :)

When we go to Yak and Yeti they do a great job of preparing my lo mein spicy by request
I also love spicy food. @Cubbiecakes, where did you find spicy foods at AK? What were they?

I believe Yak and Yeti was the place in Animal Kingdom that we found... and it was a noodle dish.

I mean both... I like "hot" food, and I like foods flavored with interesting spices (I'd grab an interesting curry over a boring steak any day).

I don't really expect to find much "hot" food; American palates are pretty bland, and Disney is aiming at a broad market. But spicy food should be out there! I'll have to try Minnesota!'s suggestion of the AKL restaurants.

I am also a spicy food lover and the Spicy Durban Shrimp at Sanaa is spicy and delicious.

I'm glad to hear this. I have Sanaa ADR in November and didn't know what I should order besides the bread service. So looking forward to Sanaa.

You won't be disappointed. It is one of my favorites and a must-do every trip!
