Any Kalamazoo Mi helpers today?

DH is STILL going 'round and 'round with the job transfer nightmares....first Canton OH,(it's out) then Kalamazoo w/ the co., and now, DH has been contacted for a facility with a competitor ALSO in Kalamazoo! As usual, we need to gather as much info as poss., (and usually the position falls through ) but I thought I'd try again as you folks are the best around, and are ever so kind at dealing with my roller-coaster of life posts! We are west of Chicago now, so midwest-feel type stuff we know, visited Holland Mi a few years back. We would drive up(3 hours) but have my dad in visiting from Fl. for the nesxt 2 weeks and won't get the chance. Can someone paint a oicture for me? Seems like Portage is along the lines of what we're used to now....thanks in advance!

I don't know much about Kalamazoo but my Aunt lives in Portage. It seems like a nice middle class suburb. Here's a website which talks about the public schools in Portage.

I just wanted to add that Michigan has schools of choice, so what school district you are in is not as big of a deal as it would be in other states. As long as there is room your children can go to any school in the area. It also looked like Kalamazoo has charter schools and private schools.

Thanks sharbear, I have been checking out that site a ot, but I must've overlooked info about the schools of choice. That is a huge perk IMHO....thank you so much for responding and letting me know.

Anyone else from the Kalamazoo area?
