First, let me apologize if I post something either culturally or ethnically insensitive. That is not my intention. Instead, I wish to generate goodwill amongst global Disney enthusiasts.

Are there any members of this board that are residents of Japan? Especially of the area around Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea?

I am putting together plans to visit those parks in 2018. I am a solo tourist. But, I think it might be beneficial to visit those parks with a fellow fan who lives in that country, and can help with understanding the local culture and norms. I'd like to visit those parks with a friend.

Also, I plan on visiting Disneyland in California in July during the D23 Expo and again in September 2017. If there is someone visiting from Japan that has not been to the parks in California that would like a friend to help as a guide, I would love to help. I will be solo on those trips also.

My hope would be to find new friends and help fellow Disney fans.

Welcome! I'm an American and my wife is Japanese. We live in the US right now but have visited Tokyo Disneyland and Disney Sea a few times. I think you'll have better luck for what you're looking in the Tokyo Disneyland Board under the heading Other Lands, which is in the Global Neighbors Group. Good luck!

Just wanted to add that if you don't find anyone to travel with in Japan not to worry. Tokyo Disney resort has everything in both english and japanese so you should be able to figure things out easily. The CM's are really friendly and lots can speak basic english or at least direct you to someone who can. We have never felt like the language barrier was an issue. The parks there are amazing, you will have such a great time! Like the pp said, if you have any questions, posting on the tokyo forum is your best option.

My husband is Japanese-American. He went to Tokyo Disneyland as a wee kid, but hasn't been back since. We're planning on going there at some point in the next several years. Our first trip to CA Disneyland is coming up in September.

As echoed above, I wouldn't worry too much about the language barrier. Even outside of TDL, most signs are in English and the Japanese are generally willing to help tourists even if they can't speak much English.
