Any Italian restaurants that don't serve veal?

I know that's a strange question! I'm taking my nephew to WDW next year and made some ADR's at some places I think he and I would like. He really loves Italian food so I thought I would take him to Il Mulino but when my sister read the menu she freaked about them serving veal. Then I thought about that new restaurant at Epcot and they also serve veal.
Any other places besides Tony's @ MK?
Or should I just tell her we not going there and then bribe my nephew to keep quiet and go there anyway? ;)

She's a vegetarian and very much into not eating animals...especially veal or lamb.
My nephew and I personally wouldn't be eating it as we just want to have some good pasta but I guess eating at a restaurant that serves veal is a no-no for her. ;)

Veal and lamb - I'm getting hungry. Just need to start with some foie gras!

Tony’s in Mk and Mama Melrose's in DHS are options, but the food is average IMO.
I prefer the Spaghetti and meatballs at Wolfgang Puck Express (DTD in the Market Place – NOT the one on the Westside of DTD) to both of those.
It is a really nice pasta.

I think any good Italian restaurants will have multiple veal dishes on the menu, kind of hard to avoid.

As for talking him to the place with veal anyway, not a god idea IMO.
If it was me I would do it, but that’s me.

I don't recall seeing veal or lamb on the menus at Mama Melrose or Tony's. Tony's isn't very good. Very bland sauces and overcooked pasta. My family liked Mama Melrose. The atmosphere was fun with entertainers visiting the tables. Food was good and plentiful.

Thanks everyone for your help. I forgot about Mama Melrose. This will be only my second time going to WDW so I wasn't familiar with all of the restaurants. I think we will give Mama Melrose a try. ;)

FWIW, Puck's meatballs are made with veal ;)

Veal is a staple in Italian cuisine so I would expect it's going to be very hard to avoid. Even if it's not called out specifically on the menu, many sauces are made with veal stock & many meatballs/sausage are made with ground veal.

And the other thing to consider is that menus do change, some of them more frequently than others so if it's that big of a deal I suggest checking at the restaurant directly prior to your visit & maybe make a back up res somewhere else that you can use/cancel dependig on what happens.

That's why I liked them so much!

I had not even though about that.
When I make meatballs I use 1/3rd Pork, 1/3rd beef and 1/3rd veal.
I should have realized it was the same at WPE.

I had a lovely veal shank at Tony's a few years ago.

I would suggest that you go with the most current menus and take a shot at an ADR. If it turns out that the restaurant has added veal to the menu you have at least made an attempt to appease your sister. There is really no more you can do for her.

1) Sounds like some kind of humanitariann type of thing.
2) This may be the way to go.
3) However, do vegetarians cringe at veggies being pulled out by their roots?
4) That's gotta smart.

Scupper - I have actually heard of a group of vegans who will not eat anything vegetable that the plant is killed during the harvest. I respect people's lifestyle choices, but that seems a little extreme even to me.

I don't eat veal. Haven't for years, but I will eat in restaurants that serve it because I love good food & don't want to miss anything. I also don't buy Factory Farmed meat/seafood, but when I go out or eat at someones house, I have learned to be flexible & enjoy the bounty that was prepared for me. It's great to have beliefs, but for me, I have had to find a middle ground that I can live with when traveling or visiting.

That reminds me of that episode of Lost in Space....

I wonder if people realize that by 2017 no veal should be raised in crates in the US?
It is already banned in several states.
It has been banned in the EU since 2007.

I wonder if people realize that 35% of the veal in the US is no longer raised in crates?
This is up from 5% two years ago.
A lot of progress is being made and I think a lot of people are still basing their info off of old info

If you do not want to eat it that is fine, but do not expect me not to eat it.
I still miss the Foie Gras in Disney.

I would never expect someone not to eat veal just because I don't. This is america, and people love their meat. That will never change.

I am not a vegetarian, however I do draw the line with veal, and 35% isn't good enough IMHO. I still won't eat it when they "don't use crates". They still take the calves away from their mother after a few hours, don't allow them to see much light, don't allow movement, etc. Many things that are inhumane (again in my opinion) will still be done probably after the crates are gone. They will probably just put them in a big barn then, chained up in the dark.

It tastes alright, but not good enough for me to justify eating it. Again, to each his own, and if someone else LOVES it, that is their opinion. But I can think of much tastier things to eat (crab, shrimp, salmon, etc.) It's not hard for me to stay away from it

When I say out of the crate I mean "veal calves raised in a group environment".

Will there be abuses, yes. They just closed down an organic veal farm for abuse less than a year ago.

BTW - I am not sure farm raised salmon are all that happy and I won't even get into chicken.

I really don't want to start an argument about it here, like I said if you do not want to eat it (or any meat) that is fine with me as long as you do not try to get it banned like they did with foie gras.

I have looked Mama Melrose's menu up and down, and they don't serve it! :lovestruc here is the menu, although reservations seem to be very difficult to get, I had to keep checking for 2 months...http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/me...a-melroses-ristorante-italiano-menu-lunch.pdf
I had a veal T'bone at Le Cel last year, don't know if they still have it. As for your other comment on veal, You're right, it's just not that great. I'd rather have the strip. Got no moral problem with veal, just felt it was not the end all be all.

I don't really get why people ridicule others' food choices. Everyone has different sensibilities, different experiences, different preferences. If someone chooses not to eat veal or patronize establishments that serve it, that's their business. The OP asked a simple question. You may not agree with someone's preferences, but is it too much to ask that you respect them?

Although I think its crazy not to go to a restaurant because they serve a particular dish that one won't eat, I will say be careful that the pasta dishes you want to eat are vegetarian. A lot of sauces are made with meat and could be made with veal too, even though you might not actually see the meat.
