Any Italian recommendations

Il mulino is much better than your other choices. I'd pick Portabello Yacht Club next, Via Napoli 3rd.

I think there is some decent Italian food in the parks, but nothing really, really good. The only thing that may come close is Il Mulino. It is in the Swan resort (not a Disney resort) and does not take the dining plan.

I can tell you not mama melrose's. That was our least fave. I have never had il mulin, but I have had Tony's in MK and tutto ilalia. We like Tony's and try to time it around the parade and sit outside. Tutto's is the one disney restaurant I can tell you I walked away from not full...not hungry, but not full.

We are trying VIa Napoli in March and have heard the pizza's are wonderful.

Ate at Via Napoli at Christmas. We really enjoyed our pizzas, appetizers were good too. We didn't have actual dinners except for pizzas but they were the best pizzas we have had at Disney. Desserts were so yummy too! Tiramasu was delicious!

Thanks for all the suggestions. I was thinking of Via Napoli but was unsure. We are on the dining plan (paid for it-got 40% off room instead) so Il Mulino is out.

Hey fellow Italian...I'm technically Sicilian but whatever. OOP isn't really appealing to me since Le Cellier is going to 2 credits, we usually pay for breakfast oop and leave the more expensive stuff for the dining plan.

Via Napoli is good. :)

I know you said Il Mulino is out due to DDP, but Il Mulino offers $25 Restaurant.com gift certificates for $10 (and if you use code LOVE right now, it is 80% off). Therefore, you get a $25 gift certificate for $2.

If you take that into consideration, you can have an AMAZING italian meal in a more affordable price range... plus, their homemade Limoncello will make you smile for the rest of the night!

Don't expect fine Italian cuisine at Disney, even from Il Mulino. I agree it's easily the best option, but Italian food isn't necessarily Disney's strength. I also like the pizza at Via Napoli and suggest it as a second choice.

FWIW, from another Sicilian Jersey girl, we were very disappointed in Via Napoli. Tutto is a safe pick although not extraordinary. We're trying Portobello in a few weeks.

We are an Italian-American family, and our hometown is full of authentic Italian restaurants. I've never had anything at Disney which compares to the authentic places I can eat at while home.

So unfortunately my answer would be, "don't bother." There are so many fantastic options outside of Italian at Disney that it would be a shame to try to seek out something they don't do particularly well.

This is an area that's fun to watch...what do you mean by Italian?NY Italian,Philly,San Fran?Northern or Sicilian?Fine dining or country fare?

I lived in and traveled widely in Italy and Europe,I have a 96 yr old MIL born in Italy, raised in the Bronx who lives with us,my wife is 100% NY Italian-American and we can't agree on Disney's Italian food most of the time.

We all loved Alfredo's,disliked Via Napoli and Tutto and can at least get something we each like at Il Mulinos which is Italian inspired fine dining.

We go to Tony's and Mama's because they are in the park, have a few good items and are inexpensive. But the they are very Americanized Italian.

My late Italian born father-in-law owned groceries in Manhattan and The Bronx often lamented that most Americans would pour ketchup over mac'n'cheese and call it Italian:scared1:

Now, if you're staying at a Disney resort.. how would you go about getting to the Swan resort, if you wanted to try Il Mulinos?

The good -- Tutto Italia

The decent -- Tony's

The so-so -- Mama Melrose

The bad -- Via Napoli, would never return. Pizza was okay, rest of the food was terrible.

We love Tutto, the chicken dish is delish. Everyone in our family wants to go back every year. The servers were great. Can't wait to go again this August.
