Any issues getting cash back with Kroger grocery purchases?

I have 6% at grocery stores but I've just been reading that some people have been denied the 6% and had cash back post as only 1% for grocery purchases.

I was planning on buying the last 2k of Disney gc I need today but I obviously don't want 1% instead of 6%!

I do have a different card that has 5% but the max spending to get that bonus is only $625. So I still need about $1400 on the other card.

The 6% is Amex; the 5% is Citi.

Has anyone had their grocery store purchases not post at the proper cash back rate for these card companies?

I've always received the 6% on EVERYTHING purchased at a grocery store, up to $6,000 in purchases.

Can you buy Target gift cards instead and then use them combined with your Red Card (assuming you have one) online and get 5% on top of the 6%?

I will be buying Target gcs and turning those into Disney gcs online in the future for sure, but unfortunately I only got the Amex card one week before our trip!
I'll be lucky if the measly $150 Disney gc I ordered from Target last week comes tomorrow so I can use it this trip - FYI, Target shipping is sloooow for gift cards! ETA 9 days after ordering.
As I understand it, it's much better to get $100 or so each normal grocery trip over time so it doesn't cause an issue with Amex cash back. Here's hoping, but at least I'll get 1% plus the Kroger fuel perks...but that's only 6% - I wanted 11% - or even better, 16% buying Target gcs.
