My 1 month old iphone has stopped working. It will not dial, receive calls or texts and I cannot send texts. It does power on and appears to be dialing and I can write messages. Any ideas? I have applecare, but can't find any troubleshooting, all I am finding is the online version of the booklet that came when I purchased applecare. TIA!!!

I wouldn't call myself an iphone expert by any stretch of the imagination! But the same problem happened to me. I was able to fix the phone by plugging it into the computer, and turning on Itunes. From there the computer fixed the phone's bugs.

good luck!

nevermind- i think i figured it out. turned it completely off and then on again and now I have service.

If the problem should crop up again, you might also try a restore through iTunes. That can often solve problems that a hard reset doesn't (though thankfully it sounds like that did the trick for you!)

Thanks for the input- I didn't have very good customer service when I bought the phone and I will do anything to avoid heading back to at&t! If I need to, I will go the itunes route.

I had to take my phone into the Apple store one time due to a problem and they taught me how to do a hard reboot. Hold down the circle button and the top button at the same time for about 5 seconds. The entire phone will reboot and that helps to work out any kinks that may be going on. I get some weird buggy stuff like that in mine from time to time.

I had some quirky problems with the iPod and internet functions on my iPhone. The phone support person talked me through doing a "Networking Reset" or something to that effect. I believe I accessed it through the settings menu. That took care of the problem without doing a whole restore - which I'd done before and seemed to mess my phone up - for instance I'd never gotten those pesky "password" reminders before doing a Restore, but now I have them and they drive me crazy. Does anyone know how to get rid of them? I mentioned it to the guy on the phone and he said once you say "No", you shouldn't see them again. :confused3 Not so for me, they pop up all the time.

Don't go to ATT. Call Applecare if you need it again. They are great!!

AT&T will not allow you to come back with iPhone issues. They will refer you to Apple. You'll have to take it to the genius bar at an Apple Store where they will diagnosis your problem. AT&T knows nothing on how to fix the iPhone, so off to Apple you'll go.
