Not from surgery, but from doing stupid things. :cool1:

I have 2 on my face, one from being a 5 year old and not realizing that running behind swings could be dangerous. I have a scar from 3 stitches put in my chin.

The other scar on my face is from when I was about 20 or 21. I was being a moron and running up the down escalator. I fell and cut open my lip and part of my chin. It seemed like fun at the time. :thumbsup2 I don't know how many stitches I got from that.

Now I know that everyone has knees that are full of old battle wounds (I can't even shave there without getting a cut) but do you have any interesting scars with interesting or funny stories?

I have a nice big raised scar on my left arm from a soap dish. Yep, you read that right, a soap dish.

My mom broke the soap dish in my bathroom when she was trying to clean it. We had one of those shower heads with hoses and it fell and broke the soap dish. Despite my warnings of the inevitable outcome they did not fix it. I didn't even know I was bleeding until l saw the blood running down my arm. I don't rememer how many stitches that one took...

I also have a nice rip in one earlobe. When I was in fourth grade I was a skunk in a theatre production of Winnie the Pooh. Part of my costume required a hairnet. I took the hairnet off and it caught on my earring, and you can guess the rest.

Not a scar, but I did break my had while trying to read on an elliptical training at the Y. I am just that talented.

I have a scar below my nose just above my top lip (you know, in that little indentation). When I was about 4, a stray dog (that I was probably trying to hug or kiss) bit right through my lip. It took several stitches, and I can still remember trying to eat mashed potatoes that night.

I also cried and got so upset that they didn't do away with the dog (like they used to do to check for rabies).

I have a scar on my left eyelid and eyebrow, my forehead, my left cheek, and many small ones down the left side of my body. I was in a motorcycle accident when I was younger. We were hit head and we were thrown off the side of the mountain into a ravine. No helmets. I was very lucky. Ended up with lots of scars and a broken arm. Lots of surgeries and doctor visits.

My main scar (only time I've had stitches) is on my left wrist. I received a Pampered Chef v-shaped knife & decided to cut a watermelon to look fancy just b/c I wanted to try my new knife. The very first time I tried it, I totally missed the watermelon & gashed my wrist. I'm feeling a little  just thinking about it!

I have one right above my left eyebrow from when I was about 5 or 6 and I ran into a parked open car door:rotfl:

well, my most interesting one is from when I was in-utero. I sucked on my big toe almost constantly apparently and when I was born, I had a big scab on it! Ew! I've had a scar there since birth

I have one under my lip from kissing my pet lizard too close to dinnertime... :rolleyes1

My favorite scar came when I was climbing up the spiral stairs at the Alcazar castle in Spain to get to the parapet. The stairs were very narrow, and I moved aside as some people came down, There was a twisted wire holding a wooden door shut, and it scraped across my upper arm, causing a bloody scratch.

Still have the scar, and I smile cuz it reminds me of our trip, and I think it's kind of cool I got it at a castle.

OK, I know I'm weird, but I love hearing the stories behind scars. My most recent scar is one of my most interesting.

I started a new job a few months ago. I'm a nurse, one of our yearly requirements for credentialing is attending a trauma workshop. All the regular classrooms were in use the day of the workshop, so they put our class in a room near the behavioral health unit. We were on a break during the class and stepped outside onto a patio outside the outpatient clinic. One of the patients became agitated and came storming through the glass doors, punching and kicking the door as he went. He broke the glass door, and a piece of glass caught me in the chin. It bled like crazy (facial lacerations do) and it was a very scary situation. I now have a scar running down the side of my chin, and quite a story to tell about it.

As a result of what happened, the hospital has decided not to allow any classes to be held in the behavioral health unit. It's just too stressful for the patients, and it's obviously not a safe environment for those of us who don't need to be there. Yeah, it sounds like a no-brainer...they should've realized this before anything happened...but hindsight is 20/20.

I have a scar on my shoulder from when I fell down a waterfall. We were in the Dominican Republic, and they took us to this rainforest that had these natural waterfalls. We climbed and swam through about 7 of them, and then rode them down, like a waterslide. It was hard work too, you had to swim about 1.5 miles total, through these rock formations, climbing up the waterfalls, and all that. The water was about 20 feet deep. So on one of them, I wasn't situated on top of the fall quite right, and lost my footing, and fell down, scraping my shoulder along the rocks. Didn't bleed that much, but it left a nice scar.

I have a scar above my right eyebrow from when I was in preschool. They had a small indoor slide and I decided to go down head first, which I had done many times before without any problems. Only this time someone moved a chair in front of the slide while I was on the way down and I ran into the metal leg face first. And DS3 wonders why I tell him slides are feet first ONLY  .

I have a 1" scar at my hairline above my left eye. Nothing you can see, because of my bangs. But it is a good story. In 5th grade, PE class I got hit in the head with a pickleball paddle. I was retrieving my ball, and another girl started her backswing at the same time. The PE teacher was also my gymnastics coach, so I was quite calm, because there was a trusted adult taking care of me. Of course, when he said, "I can see your skull," everyone else freaked out. My mom picked me up to take me to the doctor to get my stitches. The doctor's office knew we were coming. I walked in, and everyone's eyes bulged out because the entire front of my shirt was covered in blood. We were quickly ushered into an exam room. I had 12 stitches, and because of the concussion concerns, I didn't go to school the next day. When I went back, the rumor was my eye had fallen out! For the rest of my school career, I was "the girl that got hit on the head with a pickleball paddle."

I also have a small scar on my knee, because I fell on one of the spikes that holds down a tent. That one was a lame scar, because I stupidly was running around and tripped. No one started any crazy rumors about that one.

Scar number one happened when I was 7 years old. I was jumping off the deep end of a friends pool and twirled around to grab the edge- being a chicken. And I hit my chin on the cement edge and sunk to the bottom of the pool.
12 stiches later I was good to go. (oh that needle hurt like a well you can imagine a needle in the chin!:scared1: )

My other big one was in college fighting with my roommates friend from home- he was a big jerk. I was making breakfast and he made some sexist comment and I stabbed myself with a knife as I was slicing a bagel.
Needed 10 stiches in the hand.
Oh and he ended up being not such a jerk he stayed with me at the hospital and took care of me for a few days. There are some funny pictures out there of me at a party in a crowd with my hand in the air- They told me to keep it elevated so I did. :rotfl2:

I have some other scars but no stories just spazzy moments.

One under my eyebrow from running into a pole in a friend's basement while playing hide and seek in the dark. I was wearing glasses, and they dug right in. Another one on my lower back from standing up in high school and cutting it on my friend's locker that was open. And then a bunch that were self-inflicted. Those are probably the stupidest ones. :/

It's not really my fault but I was jumping on our trampoline and one of the springs broke off. It flew up and cut into my inner thigh and left a scar about the size of my pinky fingernail.

Yes I can, twice! The lip was the worst though. But it healed the quickest.

3 scars total, 2 visable, 1 hard to see..

Scar 1 is located on my right pointer finger..I was about 9-10, and my mom asked me to go out to the car and get my little brother who had fallen asleep on the way home, so Mom had left him there to sleep. Car was in driveway. I go out to the car, grab my brother, put him down so he can walk in, close the door, and begin to walk away...Only to find I am "stuck" to the car...Yup, I somehow closed my finger in the door. I never got stiches(no clue why) so it healed all funky looking.

Scar 2, is located inside my ear canal. Fell out of bed at 4H camp, top bunk, first night. Hit the dresser on the way down, lacerating my head. I even passed out. Best part was I got to stay at camp, and got special treatment the week I was there!

Scar 3, I got about 8 years ago. I was washing dishes in the sink, and I was cleaning out a glass. I had put my hand and sponge into the glass and was wiping it down, when I heard a *POP*. The glass was in 2 pieces, and the sink was full of blood. Cut a nice sliver into the top of my hand, right under my pinkie.

I have a scar on the inner side of my upper right arm that kind of looks like a sliver of the moon. I had a PICC (peripherally inserted central catheter) line back in March and when they put the dressing on I told them I was allergic... the hospital didn't believe me so when they took it off my skin peeled off with it. :confused3 :sad2:

People look at me and ask themselves, "how are you still living?"

I've broken my left hand, left wrist (not at the same time), sprained both ankles multiple times, had the right one rebuilt, bruised my liver, bruised my lungs (coughed up blood for a week, it was cool!), 8 concussions, dislocated my left shoulder, tore the cartilage in left shoulder, had bone taken out of left shoulder, had several inches of left collar bone removed, tore my meniscus... that's all I can think of right now, but I know there's more. Oh, I forgot to add that I have a brain tumor and a rare disease. As if the above wasn't enough... ha ha ha

I'm the only person I know that has several orthos on speed dial.

My motto is: If you can break it, I probably have!
