hi There- My family and I of disney freaks are coming down 8/16-8/23/07 and are staying at the Boardwalk Villas for the first time..Can anyone give me some tips and feedback on the place before I get there?
:wizard: princess: thanks-

Its a great place our favorite hotel, If any of you like water slides the keister(sp) coaster is fun for being a resort slide, not to mention the Boardwak is an attraction in itself with great dining Spooldes, Flying Fish, ESPN club, and Big River Brewery. The Boardwalk comes to life at about 9:00pm and is bustling with people until 1:00am or later. We usually people what from our balcony at night after we get back from the parks.

no restuarant inside.
only Belle Vue Room inside the hotel part - very, very limited menu.
there is a pool bar but again limited menu.

so you need to be prepared to either cook inside, use room service or go outside for meals.
BW is not far unless it is raining - then to me going outside for food is a big PAIN.

We actually have the dining plan that we can eat wherever so that works- how is the ESPN club and did your room have a washer and dryer in the Villa?

1-bedroom and up have the washer and dryer. It is a closet between the kitchen and bathroom.

the studios don't. but there is a free laundry mat on the first floor.

studios have a queen bed and sleeper sofa (double).

1-bedroom has a king bed and queen sleeper sofa.

2-bedroom is a combination of both.

ESPN is great. Probably one of my favorite places to eat. It's a really fun atmosphere...especially if you love sports. Definitely try the macho nachos. They are a must!!! BW is by far my favorite resort...you will have an amazing time.

Just a tip: You may have heard before....if you are in a rush and don't mind the walk, skip the boat to EPCOT and MGM. Just hoof it....it's a beautiful walk, and seems to be quicker.:thumbsup2

I stayed in a studio a few years ago and just loved it! I know for us it was much quicker to take the stairs that were by the fitness center than to wait for the elevator. I also loved picking up a snack at the Boardwalk Bakery. Have a fantastic time!

BWV is our favorite resort! Belle Vue Room has pastries and coffee for sale in the morning. The bakery is also fine for a take-out breakfast. We like Spoodles for breakfast as well. There is also a full room service menu. There are tons of dining options within walking distance -- Beach Club/Yacht Club as well as great places at Dolphin/Swan. Plus, it's easy to walk over to World Showcase for dinner. We also like that BWV is between Epcot and MGM -- so it's pretty easy to walk to MGM as well.

Small things to enjoy -- the model of the elephant hotel on a shelf over the fireplace in the lobby and the stunning carousel at the lobby entrance, which plays and turns intermittently during the day.

Enjoy!

The BWV is my DH's favorite resort - for the location mostly! But the washer/dryer in the 1br is a Godsend! You can pack lightly and just toss everything in the wash every night! Never stayed in a studio. There is even a decent hot dog cart right on the boardwalk every afternoon/evening - very inexpensive snacks there (don't know about the dining plan though - if it's part of that). Spoodles has pizza slices to go. We cook a bit for snacks there, and my son loves the sushi place at the Swan/Dolphin. It's a bit pricey (well, sushi always is) but good quality. You'll love it if you love to have dinner at Epcot also (we do!). Matter of fact, we were going to stay there for our upcoming 8/8 - 8/16 trip, but I got a Saratoga Springs 1br for $250/night, vs $350 for BWV, so I switched. Never tried SSR before.

We stayed there March of last year and I coulnd't imagine staying anywhere else. Best real estate in all of Disney. Close to Epcot and MGM, spend an afternoon walking around the other epcot resorts. At night check out the entertainment on the Boardwalk, have a great time at Jellyrolls, the dueling piano bar. The only one negative thing I can say about Boardwalk which is really nothing is some rooms are far away from the elevator and it's quite a hike sometimes but even that's not so bad.

BWV sounds great! I will be staying there in September. Please let me know how things go there when you return.

We're staying at BWV in Feb 08. We have a boardwalk view which I hear is a lot of fun, but I am a little concerned abt the noise level at night since there are all those late night clubs. We have a DS7 and DD4 who go to bed quite early and are fairly light sleepers. Is there any particular area along the boardwalk that is louder than the rest? Should we ask to be away from the Dance Hall, for instance???

We've stayed at BWV twice. I looove the Boardwalk Bakery for breakfast and heck for any meal!

It is a big resort, you may have a long walk from the pool, lobby, and exit to your room, but I think the setting and the amenities make the hiking worth it.

There's nothing like being able to walk in and out of Epcot, or over to the Studios.

Epcot resort area resorts are the bomb.

We have always requested BW view and love it. You might request top floor also. The higher up you are, the less the noise is. The only section I wouldn't like to stay in is at the very end near Jellyrolls. I believe that all these rooms are studios. It looks that way from the outside. If you were all the way down there, you would have an extremely long walk from the elevators and would tend to hear the noise from Jellyrolls and the Dance Hall. The activity down on the BW lasts until about 10:00 p.m. and then it tends to quiet down. I love the view from these rooms. You can sit out on the balcony in the morning and enjoy your breakfast or watch the Epcot fireworks if you don't want to go out in the evening. Keep in mind that there will be some noise. I tend to notice the bell ringing from the assorted carnival games. If you think that this might bother your children, you may want to switch to a preferred view rather than a BW view. I believe this gets you a view of the grassy area outside the back of the lobby. It would be a little quieter than the BW view.
