Any info out there about a colonoscopy budget?

Be thankful for every bit of anesthetic they give you. I have had at least 4 colonoscopies due to family history. The surgeon doing them really didn't believe in giving much anesthetic, and the first one I had, I felt everything!

I am so glad you are going ahead with this because I lost my lovely 37-year old sister to colon cancer 14 years ago. Even though the cost is a burden, it is a small price to pay for peace of mind (hopefully) or catching a problem early and being able to successfully treat it.

All the best to you.

One last helpful hint, and I'll try to be delicate:flower3:

When I was at CVS getting my prep items, I also purchased toddler wipes. They are flushable, as opposed to baby wipes, and they are very helpful when you are, um, wiping frequently.:rolleyes1

I 2nd the wipes....very soothing after a few trips to bathroom. They are also sold with the TP for adults.

My added tip is to have some A&D Ointment (or some other type of soothing diaper type ointment) available. My bottom got very sore after a bit and a coating of this stuff made the next trip MUCH more comfortable. I just kept reapplying after each trip.

Trying to be delicate here, but thought it was worth it if it helped somebody else!

FWIW:

I don't have septic, live in a condo (I only mention that because I don't know if single family home plumbing is different than other types of homes), and follow the package directions about never flushing more than 2 wipes at a time.

I used them multiple times the day of my 1st prep with no problems, and then again 2 weeks later when I had my surgery. Since I started chemo in mid-May, I have used them daily since my chemo drugs cause "sensitivity" :lmao: in that area. I have yet to have a problem with being able to flush them.

Just my experience.
