I'm going to be at po in april...and can't decide which side to stay on...have been to fq b4..sure my kids 6 & 4 will love pool...just not sure about rs....is the pool okay...does it have slide? also have been hearing that rs is under construction? and pool might be closed? let me know....thanks!!!:jester:

I was at POR last week. The pool is very nice with a longer waterslide than FQ (although not as dramatic). The pool is in a "Huck Finn" type setting and is very nice. The only section that was closed while we were there was Oak Manor. Everything else was operating. The pool is not as nice and fresh as the newly renovated FQ, but it was very nice and my kids loved it. Much more shade and a more lush surrounding. Quite nice.

Although I don't spend too much time swimming when I am in WDW, the pool was the one thing I did not care for at the POR. I loved the rest of the resort and found it to be very peaceful and relaxing. The theme of the pool just does not compare to other mod resorts, in my opinion.

thanks for all of your info...i'm sure my kids will just be happy to be swimming in april!!! I know i will....thanks again....Oh ...Happy Anniversary!!!!....we honeymooned in Disney in may of 95....

Does anyone know where I can find pictures of the slides at POR or POFQ? Thanks!

If I'm not mistaken, they refurbished the main POR pool about a year or two ago.

There used to be a foot-bridge that went over the pool, that was taken out. I think they also freshened up the pool itself.

Does anyone out there know this for sure? I can't be that far off, can I????

As you can see from my signature, we love POR. As a matter of fact, we just became DVC members, but want to go back to POR for a couple of nights, just to go "home". Its absolutely beautiful there. But the main reason I want to go back is to go down that SLIDE!!! I just love it and feel like a little kid again. I love their pool and find it very relaxing. You would love the Riverside. Enjoy!

Jillpie:

Are you referring to riverside or french quarter? If it is riverside which area do you like?

Deb.

Hi Deb, I am referring to the Riverside. We love this place and so do my boys. We are a family of five, so Alligator Bayou is the only section that sleeps five. The entire resort is gorgeous though, you can't go wrong anywhere.

Yes, I guess I am like everyone else trying to decide french quarter or alligator bayou. I have been to the mansions many years ago, but never checked out the bayou area. I have seen many pics which are beautiful.

But now I need shade, so am considering the bayou for the nice trees and shade, but like the idea of the french quarter rooms for the curtain by the sinks, and the nice updating. So I am torn which to pick. Do you know if the walkway from french quarter to riverside is shaded, or not.

Deb.

No, the walkway between these two resorts is not shaded. But the alligator bayou would be an excellent choice at POR for shade. You could walk forever on the pathways there under shade. Just thinking about it makes me homesick for it. :D
