We stayed in the cabins for one week in April 2002 and loved it! It was great having our own little "house" to go to after a busy day in the parks. We got a military rate of $129 plus tax, which we thought was well worth it; value season rates may be comparable. They have regular housekeeping like the other Disney resorts. We rented a golf cart while there so I can't comment on the bus service. Try posting on the Camping forum for lots of info on Ft. Wilderness. :D

I recommend the cabins highly!! We stayed there in Feb '00. I agree with the poster above about renting a golf cart. Unfortunately, we didn't rent one while we were there. Fort Wilderness, as a resort, is quite vast. They request that you don't use your car to get around and it can be a long walk to the pool, to dine, to the store, to the dock...etc.

We also drove down from CT with food, thinking that we would cook a lot of our meals. That wasn't too smart as we were there during an off-peak period when the parks close at 6:00PM. So there really wasn't time to leave a park at lunch, go back to the cabin & prepare lunch, then go back to a park.

Overall, I adore the theming of the cabins. I like the set-up & layout of the cabins... sleeps 6 comfortably.

My family has stayed in the cabins over the years. We were hooked. It is a very relaxing resort. There are alot of activities there - water sports, horseback riding, fishing, petting zoo and The Trails End Buffet is a great value for meals. There is also a camp fire marshmallow roast, outdoor movie each night.
The golf carts were the first driving experience for each of our three children over the years. (At least the first we know about).

We did take advantage of the kitchen for some meals. This saved money and time. Mostly breakfasts and snacks.
One of the best parts was being able to have the children in one room with a door to close. This gave DH and I time at night to unwind and not disturb the children (or vice versa) All the resorts are great - this one just has a special place in our hearts.;):
