I know that as an ap holder I am now able to book the DP without purchasing tickets but does anyone have some details for me. Like how far in advance do you need to book the plan? does your entire party have to book the plan or just some of you.? Does my entire party have to check in and show their APs? (unlike when you check in, room only). And whatever other awnsers you might have for me. thanks alot.

We are doing this next year for 2 trips... I can't answer all of your questions but I do know that your room only ressie becomes a package and is subject to package rules ($200 down payment, final payment due 45 days in advance etc)

I would think that since it is now a package that everyone in the room would need to be on the DDP, but I am not sure whether they will all need AP's...

Me again.. A dvc friend of mine once said,(I think) that they did not have to book dp until 48 hrs in advance . True?
My whole family has APs so this is not an issue for us at all. Just wondering about all the other details.

Makes sense I guess. I am just glad we can finally get the DP without having to get myw tickets

You must add DDP to a package reservation 72 hours in advance, no sooner.

Even if you are an AP holder on a room/dining reservation, your reservation will be a package, not a room-only reservation. You are subject to the same deposit, cancellation and payment rules as other packages.

DVC gets 2 days, but their system is entirely different.

Every person named on your reservation age 3 or over must purchase the dining plan for the full length of the stay. You need present only one adult annual pass at check-in.

Hmmmm... we tried to add 5 days ahead and were told it was 6 days and we were too late. They said 2 days for DVC but 6 days for AP. This was <30 days ago. We had to go without last time because we also thought it was 3 days/72 hours. Even tried to call a couple more times and no one would let us add it. (they also make you drop your AP reservation and rebook an AP plan so its risky to wait at a busy time of year).

Was the 5 days prior from a TA? Not saying it is wrong, but I have never heard of Disney having a time frame besides 72 hours/3 days prior to arrival. As far as I know that is Disney's policy. A TA may have their own.
A DDP should be able to be booked as long as it is beyond the 3 day window. (Subject to availability.)
As already stated, DVC has different policies.

I've always been told 6 days in advance too. We've added it late twice, and each time I've had to think about it and make sure I was not too late to add it.

We also added this for our upcoming Dec trip. All guests must buy the same DDP, but only one AP need be shown at check in. PP's are correct that you are then on a package, and subject to the same payment schedule and pre-payment as regular package holders. As long as the guest show ID, I was told we may check in as we get there. (coming from different states.)

Its 72 hours and you would have to cancel and refund your AP room only and pay in full for the AP plus dining PACKAGE but you will NOT lose the room. Guest services would do an overbook procedure
