Hello to All,

I have just discovered this board and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for me Disney Dilemna.

I have been trying for the past few days to book a trip to Disney and was hoping to stay where we have always stayed, The Grand Floridian.

We are from Canada and so the rate of exchange makes it really quite necessary for us to get a discount on the rack rates. We missed the Canadian at Par discount by a couple of days, so we thought that we would use an AP discount. This meant that we would have to advance our vacation by almost a week, which we were willing to do.

The big problem seems to be that my Dad, who is recovering from recent heart surgery (and the loss of my Mom :( ) is going to be joining us for about 5 days (out of our 17 day trip). There are 5 of us (my husband and I and our kids, 12, 8 and just turned 3). Officially, The Grand Floridian will only sleep 5 (although with our two youngest being such tiny little girls, we could definitely sleep all six of us in the one room).

The lady at CRO told us to just sleep the 6 of us in the Concierge room that we were going to book and not say anything about it. I was kind of worried about that...I am always such a law abiding citizen! LOL We really cannot afford to book two rooms at the GF (Lord knows we love it but it is so expensive!) Anyway, we thought that we had solved this by deciding that we would book 2 rooms at the AKL for five days and then would transfer over to the G.F. in the one room, once my Dad had departed, for the last 12 days of our stay.

Apparently, they will not allow this as this means that we will commence our GF part of our stay after the annual pass rate expires on the 23rd of August. So even though we commence our stay on the 21st and stay all of our stay on Disney resorts, they will not budge on their policy. They view it as two SEPARATE bookings.

Is there any advice or expertise that any of you can offer? I have been wracking my brain trying to come up with a solution and am at my wits end.

All the very best and thanks for taking the time out of your busy days to read this.

You should book two rooms so that you won't worry about it and you will have the extra room. Why stay in a room that is too crowded - 3 adults & 3 kids in a room doesn't sound very fun.

Yes, well booking 6 to the room and not saying anything does present it's problems in concierge ~ the CM's will see that there are 6 of you when you are having breakfast etc.. a definate no no.

Also when they book restaurants for you - it will be obviousy 6.

Unfortuantely it sounds like 2 rooms is the way to go.

I am in Canada too and am happy to say the canadian dollar is getting stronger these days and the exchange is not such a killer :)

What a shame you missed out on the Canadian at Par rate ~ it was a deal.

Sorry to hear about your Mom (and Dad) ~ I hope your Dad really enjoys this trip to Disney with you.
