Just my 2 cents....for our 10 anniversary we renewed our vows in the Old Key West Condo, had a friend who is a ship's capt. come in and do the "service" and then we went into Epcot and had dinner in France, and then watched the fireworks go off....it was a great way to do it, and it really cost us next to nothing. And most of all, we all had a great time.

I think that's a great idea! There's nothing "legal" about a vow renewal, so there's no reason that you really need to pay for a ceremony if you don't want to.
This will be our tenth anniversary coming up. I would love for DH and I to write new vows to each other and say them on a beach...just the two of us. If I did want to have something more elaborate, for $500 in candles and flowers I could make a fantastic atmosphere to have a more formal ceremony with friends.
Keep in mind that regardless of the "legality" issues, Disney is extremely protective of the Fairy Tale Weddings Department. If they catch you having an "unauthorized" ceremony on Disney property, they can ask you to leave the premises.
While I realize that people will find ways to do what they want to do, it's sometimes good to know the potential consequences.

While I personally wouldn't have a problem having a very small very private ceremony in my hotel room (for that matter they could stay in a non-Disney hotel like Swan/Dolphin where the rules are different), I guess my point was that there are many options. There are beautiful parks in Orlando/Kissimmee as well as other vow renewal sites that will perform a ceremony for much less than Disney. As others have mentioned, Swan/Dolphin has a package that starts at $1,500, although there are less expensive places. She could also rent vans to take everyone to the beach and have a beautiful ceremony there. Even with the expense of transportation, it would still be cheaper than Disney. They could then go back to Disney and take everyone out for dinner or have a dessert party.
hiwaygal - I have mentioned this before but think it bears repeating:
If you have paid for a room, Villa or whatever private accommodation at a Disney Resort; Disney has no problem with a gathering of "family and friends" for whatever you choose to celebrate.
This is not the same as setting up some sort of ceremony in front of the Castle or a public place in the Parks.

Thanks for the input, however no one knew about this but us. I didn't have a "ceremony" per se, just a get together with friends on the veranda overlooking the 7th green with some Clint Black on the cd player... Also, I asked for an extra car parking pass for our friends and casually mentioned we were celebrating our 10th anniversary....that day we came back from the parks to find a balloon floating around the condo, a bottle of white wine in an ice bucket, some chocolate covered strawberries in the fridge, and a card from Mickey and Minni....a little reminder as to why we bought the DVC a few years previous to that!!!!!
Thanks so much for the very interesting discussion and everyone's ideas! I wouldn't be opposed (and I think dh might prefer it!) to spending some of the money I would save on a "package" and renting a villa and doing something less formal in our room. With 3 kids, we need a large-ish space to stay anyway! Hmmmm....
