Any ideas for an inexpensive White Elephant gift?

White elephants are tough because without asking, you never know what way they will go. My work white elephant is always nice items, whereas my husband's work exchange is all joke items. His extended family did a white elephant last year for the first time and half brought nice items, the other half jokes. We keep a box in our attic of things to regift. Some of these are very nice items, but things we already have or don't need. Neither of us our coffee drinkers yet every Christmas we usually end up with some type of coffee items. Often these are coveted exchange gifts. Two years ago I took a lovely french press to my work party that was fought over, and it didn't cost me a thing. One year we had one exchange party where we recieved a gingerbread house kit. We had already made ours from scratch, so I took it to my work party a few days later, and lots of people were trading for it. Our box also has saved us many times when we forgot about occasions and needed something in a pinch.

When in doubt, anything less than $10 from woot.com works for me as a White Elephant gift.

Of course I have one to give in the year's office exchange: two picture frames hand-painted to look like cars. Where the picture is inserted, it makes the person in the photo look like they are driving the car.
