Any ideas about if DCL will let us switch our guaranteed cabins to an assignment?

Hi,

I'm booked on the August repositioning cruise. I have 2 Cat. 9 staterooms that are guaranteed. I have a request in for connecting cabins. I'm traveling with 3 small children, so I really need to have those cabins connected. I called on May 11, hoping to get my guaranteed cabins switched to assigned connecting cabins but without success. Does anybody have any info or thoughts on if and when DCL will let me know what cabins we have?

Thanks,
Donna:cat: :fish:

I am going on the August Repo cruise too..I have an specific assigned Cat 8 cabin and Cat 11 across from each other. My Dh and I deicied yesterday we wanted to upgrade to a Cat 6 instead so the DCL rep told us we would be guaranteed a cat 6 but won't know the cabin # until after the final payments are paid. (which is not until June 2005!!!) She said, basically we won't know the room # until we get the tickets in the mail. I wasn't too happy about that since my parents are in the cat 11 and i wanted to request a deck 6 forward, so i just have to go down the steps to my parents' cabin but the rep said, NO Guarantee of the request where our room will be, only that we will have a cat 6 SOMEWHERE on the ship!!!

DonnaDavid, I would call every day as inventory changes...
Sorry I dont think anybody knows much more than that....

I was told the same thing. I just wanted to move one person already on the ressie from a cat. 7 to a cat. 11 (both assigned rooms) to save a little money. Unfortunately, the cat. 11 we are assigned is not a quad - so we would have to drop the cabin assignment and just get a guarantee cat. 11.
Have not decided whether the $300 savings is worth the risk or not yet.

did you book thru a TA or directly with DCL? If thru a TA, let them do all the phone calling and dealing with the hassles. If directly with DCL, I would ask them if at any point they will go back to room assignments within categories (i.e. if a certain % of the rooms are available). If they say that everything booked from now until June 2005 is GTY and no room assignments will be made whatsoever .. then calling every day won't do you any good.

BUT, I'd be on that phone come June 20th (or whatever day is 60 days before the cruise) and start working on getting room assignments that ensure that you have connected rooms.

Also, did you ask if all of the connecting rooms have been assigned already? If so, I'm sure you're on a waitlist of some kind. But if no one cancels their ressie and all the connecting rooms are taken, you might need to make sure you have a PLAN B worked out.

Thanks, everyone. I called DCL again and was told the same thing as everyone else. I think the only thing we can do is to make sure we call 60 days out and bug them. :(

Didn't you say you booked through Costco Travel in another thread? Usually Disney will not assist you because they want the travel agent to call. Do you happen to know that there are 2 adjoining rooms available? If so, call Costco, at least we can try to get you your rooms.

Yes, I did book through Costco. I asked at the time that I switched my ressie to them if I could get guaranteed connecting rooms and she said that if DCL wouldn't do it for me, they wouldn't do it for Costco either. I will try again through Costco though.
Thanks.

yourtravelpro-I transferred my DCL FL-CA cruise to Costco yesterday and we have a Cat.9 gty. Do you think that Costco could get an actual room number before final payment or soon after?

Thanks for your information!

I was on hold for 30 minutes today - I had to go back to work before I got to bother them today. I"m trying back tomorrow.:(

Darn, what time did you call? There were times today that there were no hold times at all. It was about 3pm PST. Try again tomorrow, if the wait is too long just hang up and call back later. Either that or call in at 7am PST and maybe you'll get through right away since that's when we first open. Hey, maybe you'll even get me!!

It depends if there are any rooms in inventory or not. If Disney is holding back and not releasing them, we don't have access to them either. They usually assign them anytime from when you book until the day of travel.

Thank for the info. I guess I'll just have to be patient! I just like knowing what cabin I have but at least we have one!
