Any Idea How Long Wait Lists Are For Suites For Ca?

Just wondering if there is any way to tell how long the waiting lists are for the suites on the 2005 Ca. cruises. I still cannot understand how they chose who got the suites to begin with.

It could have been something as simple as by lottery....

My DW and I think that DCL is holding the best suites for company and investor dignitaries on the repositioning cruise and maybe some of the Mexican Riviera cruises. I could be wrong but I feel that once DCL knows who and who isn’t going to be on the different cruises (special guests), then those suites will come available.

By the way, my DW, DS, DD, and I are all on the return trip in Aug 2005 along with a friend from my work. We had to start speed dialing first thing when it was announced to get in. I did hear that many of the rooms came available again due to lack of final deposit. I would suggest booking a lower level room and then getting your self bumped up when the time comes.

We booked one of the Mexican Riviera cruises as soon as the phone lines opened. My booking was complete (no kidding) SIX minutes after the lines opened.
We didn't book a repo cruise, nor did we book some of the first or last Mexican Riviera cruises. I picked one that I thought I would have a better chance to at least get a Cat3. Because we need (and enjoy) the extra space, I still only ended up getting two Cat 5 connecting. Supposedly, within that 6 minute time period, all of the Cat 1, 2, 3 and 4 were booked.

Tell me that doesn't sound fishy!

Part of the reason is that they DID hold the suites until they could go through the wait-lists that they had, and the faxes to Inventory Control, but I discovered that system is flawed, because I was wait-listed and did have a request in with Inventory Control......didn't do me any good.

I think they held them for VIP's.

Glad to hear you even got on the boats for the CA cruises. I do agree that the better rooms are probably being held for VIP's. I have a contact in DSL that helps me setup the excursions and other extras; maybe she can provide you more info if you like. Let me know if you want her number and I will PM you her phone.

I am very glad we are going on one of the CA cruises!!

I'm also happy with the two connecting rooms that we did get. I wouldn't turn down a suite, but am very happy to just be going, and have some space.

I hate to sound stupid, Brian, but what's DSL?

I thought so, but I still haven't figured out all the codes yet! Sorry!

And thanks, Brian, for offering your contact. I'm happy with what we have....

Just to share our experience - we too were dialing like crazy, using multiple TA's, same as everybody...

We were able to book only category 4's that first day (we need 4 rooms)

About ten days later we got a call saying that they were "clearing the waitlists" for our cruise - and they could offer us category 3's - which we took and made the deposits on

I do agree that they are holding alot of the suites - and yet people have reported they are booked for 1's and 2's from CA so they opened them up for some people!

it's possible they did wait to book the cat 1, 2 and 3 staterooms for possible VIPs, but that the VIPs had to make their intentions known on May 5th (or 6th or whatever). Once they passed some mystery deadline they started filling those categories off the waitlists (starting with the VIPs and working their way down). :)
I'm glad to hear someone is getting those staterooms though.

Hey everybody, yes I meant DCL not DSL - typing too fast (LOL). Sounds like everbody is getting what they want on the CA cruises. Glad to hear it!!!

Hey Scratch,

Thanks for posting the thread. Is there a similar link for the Florida to CA repositioning cruise in May '05?

happyrebster - I've seen it I swear :teeth: - just look under the "cruise meets" board

Oops, I accidentally hit some combination of keys that posted that last message early.

What I meant to say was...

Just do a quick search for "May 14 2005" and you'll see a message titled "Official Check In..."

We'll be waiting for you!
