Any Hotels on Harbor Blvd Recently Updated?

Trying to decide on a hotel as close to Disney as possible. Would love GCH based on recommendations here, but it is a tad (ok - who I am I kidding - waaaay) outside our budget.

Most of the hotels on Harbor can be had for ~$100-$150, which is more like it. I can live without a kitchenette, breakfast, or parking (but all would be nice), but we must have a CLEAN and not too OLD room (no beds and TVs from the 70s, please) and it must have a pool - that's pretty much it.

Any recommendations? Ramada Maingate (~$130/night) and Residence Inn Maingate (~$190/night) are both on my radar...

Check out the Hyatt Orange County. You probably wouldn't want to walk to DLR from it, it's about a mile up Harbor . . . but it's a great hotel, and the rates are super reasonable. (We usually get a 2 BR, 2 BA suite with living room for $179 a night.) It has been recently remodeled (they just finished up in April of this year) and the rooms are beautiful. The pool, lobby and restaurant are also very nice, service is great, housekeeping is fantastic, and there is a full service Starbucks in the lobby which I love. There is a Disney shuttle that leaves every half hour and is very reliable. It's an easy 5 minute ride down Harbor and the shuttle lots aren't too far from the security entrance/DTD.

I'd suggest perusing their website and the reviews on Trip Advisor. It's a great choice!

I don't think you will find tv's from the 70's though not all have flat screens. The Ramada Maingate you mention is the only one that you can walk through that does but only in the delux rooms.

You should take a peek at the Annabelle. It's very nice, not super close though.

One of the hotels right across the street got all updated within a year, I take a stab at the name but I'm not sure.

Also consider if it has breakfast included because it is nice to eat before getting to the parks or leaving on the last day.

My friend and I stayed at Howard Johnson last weekend. The rooms are very basic but the place is clean. They recently replaced all their mattresses, and the beds are super comfy! It looks like they are doing some other updating right now, too. They've got 2 pools, one of which has some really cool theming, great if you'll have kids with you. Free parking, but no breakfast.

We just returned from a 6 night stay at the Park Vue Inn. we were in a bunk bed/queen suite. had a fridge and a nice sized washroom. The queen bed was super comfy. the tv was not flat screen but we didn't care cause we weren't in the room much to watch tv. Of our whole vacation we loved this hotel the best. Free parking, daily breakfast and a social hour in the evening included with our stay. The best part was that there were no awful comforters on the beds (those are horrid) just nice blankets that they changed and washed with each day!

It's right at the crosswalk to the entrance where all the shuttles arrive at. just a quick walk down the sidewalk to the security tables and entrance to the parks.

The pool was perfect and they have a hot tub too! The staff were really nice and we thoroughly enjoyed our time here. we will definately go back here!!!

The Tropicana, right across the street from DL, was just remodeled. The new room pictures look great. I have not stayed there yet, but plan on it for our next time if possible.

If you go to the DL Community Board and look up KCMikes "DL Resort Picture" thread, you will see the pics. Be sure to keep scrolling, cuz there are old pics of the Tropicana that are outdated from screen name "DizNeeLover." If you keep reading, then you will see the new pics from screen name "of the seas." I'd post the link, but don't know how. Sorry.

The rooms are so new, that Tropicana's official website has not even updated their room pics yet. I called to ask them about that, and they said they are working on posting the room updates right now.

There are many hotels on Harbor Ave.

We like the Embassy Suites South ( not North), on Harbor. It is a suite with two queen beds, plus a living room with a pull out couch, table for four, microwave, bar sink and small refrigerator. It also includes a Manager Reception( free beer, wine, cocktails) and a "Made to Order Breakfast", Omelets, eggs bacon, sausage, fruit, cereal the works. The rates really depend on the season, but I just recently got a rate of $125.00 for 4, two queens. Typically, it is $150.00-$160.00 during summer months. Here is their link. http://embassysuites1.hilton.com/en...assy-Suites-Anaheim-South-California/index.do Transportation to DLR is a ART shuttle bus ( $3.00 per person per day if I remember correctly) and parking is $6.00 for the Embassy. Before we started staying at the Grand Californian, we would always stay here and did not mind the shuttle bus. The breakfast is the best around.

HoJo is another hotel already mentioned which is in walking distance to DLR. It is very clean, beds are comfortable and customer service is excellent! I like Hojo for the Entertainment Rate of $59.00-$69.00, If I can't get the Entertainment I would rather say at Embassy South for the good breakfast and the Manager's Reception, and take the shuttle.

I liked the Embassy Suites South, but it's not really walking distance. It's a good mile away, and by the end of the day no one feels like walking that far.

We're fans of the Candy Cane Inn. Close, can walk but also has a free shuttle, rooms are clean and nice, free breakfast. The rooms are not huge, the pool is fairly small, but both have worked well for us.

CCI is nice but the room we had was not recently remodeled. It was not dirty or yucky at all but it was small and it was a bit outdated. We would stay there again tho.
Tropicana, I would recommend this one not knowing it was remodeled, we stayed there a few times and really enjoyed ourselves. The Howard Johnson is the best tho, and altho the rooms may need to be slightly updated it's by far one of the best hotels we've stayed in at DL, not including the GCH because of course that was the best ever.
