Ok...so should I just give up hope that FD will ultimately be released to the general public for Jan/Feb 2013?

Is it time for me to just get over it and move on with my S/P/D discount???

I think your guess is as good as anybody else's! If I was to guess: I'd say current S/P/D offer is gonna be as close to free dining as you'll get. But that is just my guess.

Disney announced early last year that they wanted to try to decrease discounts. Bookings seem to be up from a few years ago. And looking at Mousesavers Historical discount data, free dining for early in the year was announced much earlier than this, it seems.

That really is just a guess. I hope I'm wrong & everybody waiting for free dining gets it soon. Good luck deciding! :goodvibes

I'm contemplating the same thing this morning. I'm kicking myself for not booking SPD when it was first released.

I booked my February trip under S/P/D, and then when I realized I had a free dining pin code in my inbox... I called to apply it to my existing reservation. It only saved me $15 more dollars (total), so I think the S/P/D deal is pretty close to free dining. It would be awesome if they released it to the general public, but I'm not quite sure how much more in savings it would really give you (but I'm sure it would be different based on the number of people in your party, etc.)...hopefully this info helps!!!

For us, Free Dining would result in a significant saving - $741. Which explains why I am so very annoyed that I have to pay more than someone else for the same thing.

I understand! It is frustrating to read here others getting discounts that you can't get. We'll be going in Sept. I am reading about 35% off PINS some are getting. I know there will eventually be something released for Sept. But I'd loooove to get that rate & lock in my room now. But no PIN for me, I go too often, I guess!

See, this is my issue with SPD. SPD penalizes you in a way if you have young children. Where you would only save $15 if you went with free dining, I would save $500 more. Since your children are adults according to Disney, you save more money. There is no savings for my 4 and 6 year old. It annoys me because not everyone gets the same deal. I already get kicked in the butt with daycare costs.....give me a break somewhere!!!! LOL!

I booked the SPD package for February. Im seeing others got pins for February for free dining. It would save us a lot because all my kids are considered adults.

The thing that stinks about the SPD for us is that we had to book a Garden View at POR. When we really want a standard room. The room we had last time was a standard and we absolutely loved the location..It stinks to have to pay for an upgraded room when you dont even want it.

That is a huge difference! I really wish I understood the logic behind these discounts...especially the calculations used for S/P/D! So confusing! I truly hope that discount does go public b/c those with younger kids do deserve to save hundreds more, if possible! Fingers crossed!

We have 7 kids soooooo free dining would save as about $650. I'm probably just going to book SPD and hope to change to free dining later on.

So why not book now? Are your dates/ resort preference not available now?

I need 2 rooms and the price was about $300 less per room when the package first came out. Waiting has already made the same package $600 more than if I booked it on 10/10 :(

This whole thing wouldn't bother me so much except that I know that there were a whole lot of free dining pins that were sent out. To me, it doesn't seem much different than going into a store wanting to buy a loaf of bread and being told that the person in front of you doesn't have to pay as much as I do. I figure that if we know about the best discount that Disney is offering than we should also be able to get that price. Especially since there is no apparent rhyme of reason as to who receives the pins and who doesn't.

EXACTLY!!! Two of my neighbors got FD pin codes, one who already had a trip booked for Feb (as we do).

I feel like Disney values them more than my family, who goes a heck of a lot more often!

I'm so frustrated I'm thinking we need to go to an island instead...and probably save lots of money doing it.

But oh, the lure of the "Ohana bread pudding is strong.;)
