Can you get a perm after you've dyed your hair?

Also, my hair is fairly long now - although the top is short - and I basically just want the long part to be curly.. What kind of perm would I ask for?

I usually wear my hair very short, but it seems so extra cold this winter I thought I might leave it long till spring.. It's kind of like wearing a permanent turtleneck - LOL!

I *think* you can, but there is definitely a time frame for you to wait -- 2 weeks I *think* (so you can't dye one day and perm the next).

Yes, you can do both. The perm must be for tinted hair though. You'll need to tell your hairdresser exactly what you have on your hair and tell him or her what you want the curl to be like. Personally, I recommend doing one chemical service or the other but if your hair is in good shape, you can do both. Good luck!

Yes you can do both, like Buck said I prefer to do one chemical or an other if it is highlighted.
But if you are dong a color close to your natural or in other words using 10 or 20 volume peroxide its fine to perm over it. (you can also with highlights I just dont recomend it since it does dry out your hair
Another thing the perm will strip some of the color so if it is just the color of your hair or a shade lighter perm then color.
If it is highlighted or you are 3 to 4 shades lighter then your natural then highlight then perm (that way the stylist can use a perm apropiate for higlighted hair and the whole thing will be more even!)
