Hi, We are staying at SSR for a short trip in November. In the past I'd have Garden Grocer deliver the first night of a trip so we'd have some food and drinks for the room. Since we'll only be there 3 full days I was not going to have the delivery as we won't need that much and plan to do a few character meals while we are there. I'd love to have some pop and water for the room, though. Is there anything I could easily walk to and pick up some at a better price then paying from the vending machine each time? I won't have a rental car and it's just me and the kids (DD7 and DS3) but I will have DS's sit and stand stroller so could put pops/water/snacks on that to carry it back.

Or, I'd consider GG if they could deliver to front desk and I get my order when I arrive. Last time I put down a delivery time of 7-9pm on our first day and they did not show up till 9:30 and I'd hate to waste our first night sitting in room waiting as we want to go to DDT.

Thanks for help!

Downtown Disney is just a short boat ride or 10 minute walk. I beleive there is a place there that sells basic food stuffs, but I'm not sure about that anymore. AND, the vending machine might still be cheaper!
There is a food court at the main "Springs" at SSR. They've got typical convienience store type stuff (sodas, snacks, frozen meals, beer, etc).

Goodings is very close but not sure I would want to walk there pushing a stroller then back with the bags in addition to the stroller! Their prices aren't much better than the convenience store at Artist's Palette. Which actually has a nice large variety of things. I want to say its about a mile from SSR.

I also have been known to pack a rolling, soft sided cooler with water bottles, juice boxes and snacks. It goes right on the plane and then I have those things as soon as I get to my resort, no waiting on some delivery service for my order. And I have an empty piece of baggage to pack souveneirs in for the return home! For a short trip, that is what I would do or just rely on the SSR store.

how good a walker are you?

across from DD (in between West and MP) is a Hess.

Hess sells just about everything you would want for much less than Disney.

that say. This is NOT an easy walk - it is across 6 lanes of traffic. So you need to be carefully only cross with the light and even then watch out!!!!

some people don't seem to follow the same rules especially in a car. (another words this light gets run alot) it might be safer (if longer) to cross at where the Hilton is then walk to Hess.

Are you a DVC member? You can order ahead and have it waiting in your fridge upon your checkin. We always do that for water and sodas. You pay the same price as you would at the Artist Palette General Store +$5 for the delivery.

I've walked to that Hess many times. If you go to the Pleasure Island bus stop, and turn right as you get off the bus instead of left you will see the Hess station across the street. There is a light and crosswalk there, and there is a lot of foot traffic at that crosswalk, as there is a Cast Member parking lot in behind the Hess station. The Hess station has real world prices for water, soft drinks, beer, and snacks. (No Pepsi products though.)

There is also a Goodings Grocery store at the end of Hotel Plaza Boulevard. About a mile walk, but for basic water/soft drinks, I think the Hess is actually cheaper. Goodings DOES have Pepsi products.
