Any *GOOD* Sushi to be had off-site?

I want to start this off by stating that I dont mean to be a snob, but....here comes the snobby part. Hehehe!

We really want to go out for sushi on our vacation (DD 5 LOVES sushi), and we're staying off-site. However, it's really not worth having bad sushi on vacation...nor worth wasting money on crummy sushi. So we will not even attempt it without a recommendation from someone who really knows what good sushi is.

I am a little bit spoiled with Sushi. I'm in central NJ and our local sushi bar owner drives to Manhattan Chinatown to get his fish fresh at least every other day. We've only go to good places similar to this, and once in a while splurge at some place like Nobu. (If I really MUST, Wegman's sushi is ok in a pinch)

So given all of that, if someone has info on good sushi please let me know!

I'm not sure about "off-campus," but they have very good sushi at Kimonos inside the Swan Resort.

Honestly, my husband is a huge sushi snob. He loves sashimi, so it is extra important that it is fresh, and he was very impressed with Tokyo Dining. We travel a lot, we're in NYC all the time, and he was raving so much about TD that he wanted to go back twice. I'm a vegetarian, but what I had was excellent too.

I dont see any al la cart sushi on that menu. I think i remember hearing something about a walk-up sushi stand. Is this true? Did your husband eat only the sit-down sushi?

There's a huge sushi menu that's separate from the other menu. I don't see it online, maybe it changes with availability or something. My husband ordered many things a la cart.

Seriously, I think you should give it a try. It's just such a nice atmosphere and great service too. But my husband is a harsh critic and he loved the sashimi.

It was recommended to us by one of the Sushi Chef's at Puck's Sushi Bar in DTD.

Everything was extremely fresh, and they had tons of "exotic" offerings that we don't get to try up here in CT.

Thanks alot, I will definitely try some stuff at Tokyo Dining, even if just as a small lunch. I love sashimi as well....in fact DD5 loves sashimi, but wont eat sushi. I'm slowly converting DW

Also thank you for the Amura link Master_disney!!!!! We wanted to do one extravagant dinner while on vacation and this might very well be the choice!

If you decide to go, definitely sit at the sushi bar. LOTS and lots of interactions are available.

I also think Tokyo Dining is also good. There is a separate sushi menu that is not listed on Deb's site.

Do they have "walk up" sushi at Tokyo Dining? Like can I just grab a few orders of Salmon sashimi and eat it on a bench? or do you have to get a table and sit down?
