I thought I saw a $117 fare posted from MSP to MCO in August but now I can't find the info. Has anyone heard of any good deals from Minneapolis to Orlando or Tampa? We are supposed to be driving down next summer but I don't think I can wait that long. If I find a good deal I may be able to talk DH into a trip!

Why don't you join Expedia's Fare Watcher? It's available at www.expedia.com . It'll email you when rates drop beneath the price that you set. Really great rates out of MSP can be tricky because it's the hub for Northwest.

Last year we flew on Delta from MSP to MCO for $160/rt/per person including taxes.

Because I thought we would never get a great rate like that again we had decided to drive this year.

Just in case there might be a deal again, I continued to check rates daily and this year we got $159/rt/per person including taxes. However, checking back the next day it was no longer available.

There seem to be occasional specials from MSP to MCO but they seem short lived. When looking for this flight I checked every day until I found it. I use a product called SideStep (www.sidestep.com) which searches all of the airlines looking for the best price. Once you find a fare you like you have to jump on it, it's usually gone the next day.

Flying Delta from MSP usually involves a stop but this actually works well for us. The 2 legs of the flight are short enough that the kids don't get bored. By the time we take off, get to a cruising altitude and have our snacks, it's almost time to start landing again and then boarding the next plane.

Hope this helps. BTW the flight we have for $159 is the middle week in August.

Thanks for the info. We have played alot of ball games in Prior Lake(we are in Woodbury). I was really looking fro $125 or under and I'm probably dreaming. My sister did go on a Champion flight for $99 recently so something might come up. Unless we get something really cheap we are going to drive to Cedarpoint and Six Flags in Ohio this year and do Disney again next year.

You can bid priceline going through travelsheryl's priceline bidding board. That way, they'll add $25 to the price you bid for EACH ticket. There was just a post on the BB today for $115 out of MSP.

We are going next 1/31 to 2/10/2002 for $106 each out of MSP. For 6 of us, the total, including taxes, etc. is $788 on USAir through Priceline.

Only problem is, now we will have a 2 1/2 month old baby with us. (didn't know I was pregnant when I bid at the end of March.) I'm going to TRY calling to see if somehow I can get one more ticket...

I was the one who used Priceline for the $115 fare ($139 includes all taxes and fees). In June, we had Northwest fares for $171 each. Try www.hotwire.com (for my trip was about $167) or www.mltvacations.com (click on Red Hot Deals). You can also ask your travel agent to check on Transglobal charter flights. Both MLT and Transglobal have had $99 fares recently, but they go quick. I believe Transglobal has an (800) to use but I don't have it. It used to be printed in the Sunday Star Tribune. Priceline will probably routinely beat everyone else, but you need to learn how to play the game to work the system! See Sheryl's website at:

Good luck!

I just checked Continental and for 8/18 - 8/25 it came up at 104.65/rt plus taxes/fees. I've never seen it this low from MSP to MCO, that even beats Priceline and you can pick your flights.

dtauer- thanks for the info! I checked for our dates(8/10 or later to around the 17th to 20th) and it was much higher $186.00. That fare you saw is really cheap but I could not find it, for even the dates you said , so it must be gone. There was one around that same time for $131 but did not fit our time frame. My husband and kids have decided I'm nuts and should just give it up.

I don't understand because I just (4:45 CDT) entered the same info and ended up with 104.xx plus tax for a total of $131.

I'm going to www.continental.com. On the left side of the screen I'm entering 8/18/01 - 8/25/01 and then selecting by best price.

I can't understand why those rates aren't coming up for you. I also checked 8/13/01 - 8/20/01 and got the same rates. I started to get the $186 for flights departing 8/12/01.

I checked again today at three o'clock (cdt) and the cheapest fare I could find was $241 for 8/13 to 8/20. I didn't see your reply until today. Again thanks for checking. I have been teasing my DH about the low fare you found and he said if its that cheap maybe we should go. There is hope!
