I'm looking at openning some new savings and checking accounts--
any freebies or deals I can take advantage off????

Wachovia offers free checking, no minimum balance requirement, no direct deposit requirement. You get a free visa check card and a cool program called Visa Extras (for every buck you spend you earn 1 point and you cash the points in for gift cards!!). No specials on savings- regular savings has a $300 minimum to avoid fees. (The free checking is the best, no catches!) Oh, online banking and online bill pay are free too!!

Citibank is my new bank. They have free checking if you either do direct deposit or pay two bills online every month. It works out well for us because we have direct deposit and I use online banking exclusively. Their online banking is free, and they have an e-savings account that's offering a 5% interest rate with no fees and no minimum. Their CD rates are darn good too, they have a 6 month offering 5.5% right now with a $500 minimum.

Overall, I'm pretty happy I moved my money over there.

I've looked around a lot, around here, and even switched banks twice! However, we still came back to Bank of Boston/BankBoston/Fleet/Bank of America. They have provided us the best service for the money. Some banks around here even want to charge for online banking! Silly.
