Just curious if any disers will be coming into town for it.

Most people around here rent out their houses and get as far out of town as possible, but we really like to stick around.

DH and DD both play, and like to go to a few of the practice rounds if nothing else.

I'd love to go to the Masters some year, but it won't be this year. The Masters pretty much kicks off golf season for us so whenever that is on I really get the bug to play. I got my email update that the 2006 Master's Website is up and running!

We look forward to it as well. It would be nice to actually go and see a round or two but we will have to wait a few years before that can actually happen.

Dh was in the lottery for The Masters' final round for 13 years, and two years ago finally got his tickets. I don't like golf and don't go with, so he always takes a friend.

We live @ 10 minutes from the Augusta National, and aside from the snarling traffic at certain times of the day, I love when it's time for The "Toonamint." You can meet people from all over the world just by going to the grocery store--there's nothing like those gorgeous Australian men asking, "Do you carry Vegemite, here, love?"

Sounds like we live VERY close to each other!

All of the different people coming into town is why we like to stick around.

It's like a big party the whole week long.
Really the only excitment we see here all year isn't it?? :teeth:

You can say that again! :teeth:

We live in Martinez, by West Lake, if you know where that is. :wave2:

Love the Masters!!!

My in-laws were fortunate enough to get invited to go a few years ago -- hospitality test, the whole 9 yards. :thumbsup2 We all went :confused3 when they chose to come home the Saturday before the final round instead of staying for Sunday -- just so they could be home with us for Easter. We were ready to hop on a plane to use their tickets! :lmao: :lmao:

I absolutely know where West Lake is, we just looked at a house there about 2 weeks ago!

...... :rolleyes1 it's a small world after all

Great..now I've gotten that song stuck in my own head! :rotfl:

We're actually right off of Washington Rd...in the "hill" area. We're renting right now...still trying to decide..do we build..buy..what! :confused3

We really like this side versus the Evans side, where my parents live.
It just seems so far out..but it's growing, so who knows!

I live close to you both in Martinez as well!
Although I do enjoy the excitment- about every other year we get out of dodge. This year we are going to see friends in Williamsburg.
I am worried since everything is starting to bloom now -that masters week won't look as good.

I've never been but I love watching it. A childhood friend of mine is a sports agent for a few of the golfers and he says he could get us tickets. I just haven't taken him up on it. It's hard to get away with 3 kiddos.

Our neighborhood hosts a PGA tour event. A few of our neighbors rent out their homes to golfers. We stick around because we usually have a house full of company all week long.

The grocery store comment cracked me up. I get so tickled at the golfers in our grocery store. The European golfers are incredibly thin. They love to talk to my DS3 in the grocery store. On the golf course he racks up on golf balls and gloves. I think he reminds them how much they miss their own children when they're on the road.

I had the chance to go in 1999, and it was the thrill of a lifetime. I love the Masters and feel it is sport at it's very best.

Hey neighbor!

I wondered too what kind of effect all this warm weather would have. All the flowers make the course so pretty!

Hasn't it been nice though!

The azaleas look beautiful on tv. Have they started blooming yet? All of our bradford pears bloomed last week!

We will not be going, but we will have the Masters on the TV for the whole weekend!

My parents went last year to the practice rounds and the Par 3 round - they absolutely loved the grounds and the atmosphere. They really liked the Hootie and the Blowfish concert too.

We are big time golfers - all 6 of us. So the Masters also kicks off the season for us.

Actually, we have had a warm spell up here in Ontario and 2 of the girls were out yesterday hitting some golf balls around. So now our yard is once again covered in golf balls (sure beats snow).

Any early predictions on a winner? I hope Phil wins!

Yes they have started -along with my allergies!
It really is pretty though

Not a golf fan, but I did grow up less than 1/2 mile from Augusta National. It was always interesting attempting to navigate Washington Rd. during the tournament. Before I learned to drive, we just stayed home all week. After getting my license, I learned all the back streets and ways to get around without using Washington Rd.

The Masters always meant traffic & parking jams, packed restaurants and no hotel rooms or rental cars anywhere nearby. And the numerous people lining Washington Rd. trying to buy tickets.
