We're an HP family visiting that week, and are trying to find out who else will be using their corporate lounges. Just curious. . . .

No GM employees planning to visit WDW 8/21-8/25? We'll be relaxing in our HP lounge at Mission: Space and would love a chance to get a peek at the GM lounge at Test Track. Let me know. . . .

OOhhh would love to see the HP and compare but we aren't going to be there in August. If you can plan another trip Dec 3-10 we can help you out. ;) Hubby works for GM and we use the lounge every time we go. It has an incredible view up there.

We're going Sept 6. I've heard about these lounges, but don't really know what they are or where they are. Can someone explain please? Thanks.

liswel33-Bummer! We may be going back in December, but probably not until after the 10th. If by some chance we manage to get there earlier, I'll definitely let you know. Our "Red Planet room" has a nice view of the line for M:S, as well as its own video postcard machine and one of the games from downstairs.

Last time we were there, we were told that for a month or two they were testing a program where HP and GM would allow each other's employees to share the lounges. You'd have to go to your lounge first (to have your employee status verified), then they could give you a pass to the other lounge. There was a GM employee in our lounge, but our CM's weren't sure why he got a pass, and they wouldn't give us a pass to GM's. We tried to talk our way in, using the reciprocal benefit argument, but the GM people wouldn't let us in. If we don't find any GM employees to buddy up with, we'll try again this next trip.

Caramia01-In the old days, many of the companies that sponsored attractions (Kodak-Honey I Shrunk the Audience; ?Oil company?-Universe of Energy, etc.) had corporate lounges at those attractions for their employees, their families and VIP's. From what I understand, now it's down to just two-Mission: Space (HP) and Test Track (GM).

Make sure your boyfriend brings his employee ID. Not sure what GM's hours are, but HP's are M-F 8-5. Just go to the secret door (CM's can show you the way), have your boyfriend show them his ID, and you will be allowed into the employee lounge. HP's has free soft drinks, a bathroom, couches and chairs, and a laptop for checking email, disboards or whatever. It's a great place to relax and cool off (did I mention the air conditioning?) and we can get free FP's for M:S (they'll walk you down into the FP line and/or give you a FP to use later).

Last time we were there, they also told us that if we came when the lounge was closed, we could still FP the line just by showing dh's HP employee ID. I would guess TT/GM probably has the same rule. It's a fantastic perk that not enough people take advantage of. But now that you are in the know--enjoy it!

has anyone been in the GM lounge? My hubby is an ex GM employee, but still has his ID. his whole family worked there and his bro still works at the arlington, TX plant (we are in dallas) after they just closed the OK City plant. My MIL/FIL both worked there too but have retired.

might be worth trying to get in since hubby still has his ID. I assume it is just couches/drinks etc? is there a cool view?

We go to the lounge every time we visit. If you are facing the front of the ride, off to the left and around a little bit there is a door that states- GM Lounge and the hours. I believe it is 9-5 M-F but they can close it for special meetings. Have only had that happen once. You must have your GM id. You have to show it on camera before they will buzz you up. You take an elevator up. There are drinks and a nice sitting area. The lounge has a fabulous view of Spaceship Earth. Now as of May 05, if you want to ride Test Track, the receptionist shows you where to go and will escort you to a door to ride at the front of the ride. The hallway winds up through the ride and will come out to where the ride loading area is. Then a CM will put you on the ride. Fun and easy!!! They do have a little notice posted that at busy times, you aren't guaranteed to get on and you may have to wait a bit. And to be courteous to other people that are waiting. But honestly, that really has never happened to us. It is nice way to beat the heat and ride the ride.
