I was just wondering if anyone from the GLBT Forum was going to Disapalooza on December 12th?

Snagged from another thread...other stuff some DISers are planning over that long weekend:

There are other meet ups and events that are being organized by DIS'ers, but not official DIS Events. Some of these include:
•Social viewing of Osborne Lights at Disney's Hollywood Studios on Thurday 12/10 @ 6pm. Cost: Park admission.
•Yeehaw Bob @ Port Orleans Riverside on Thursday, 12/10 @ 8:30pm. Cost: Free admission. Buy your own food and drink.
•Kathy's Peeps ride "Journey Into Imagination" on Friday, 12/11, around 5pm. Cost: Park admission.
•Drink Around the World, Version DAP '09. Starting in Canada, World Showcase, Epcot @ 5:30. Cost: Park admission. Buy your own food and drink.
•Give Kids the World voluntourist experience. Donate a couple hours at Give Kids the World on Saturday 12/12 @ 8am. Cost: Transportation to/from GKTW~see thread about this, people are looking to share a taxi or rental car.
•Utilitarian viewing of the Osborne Lights at Disney's Hollywood Studios on Saturday 12/12 @ 7:30pm. Cost: Park admission.
•Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party on Sunday 12/13 (entry begins @ 4pm). Cost: Price of MVMCP ticket.

These are just some of the things that will be going on over the course of the weekend. I know for a fact at least two other major Disney fan groups are having events throughout the weekend as well.

Ahhhhh, it costs money. Esta no buena para me.

I will be there and I will be dragging my partner along. For some reason, he is not a Disney Fan. :scared1:

My sister and brother-in-law are also coming along, but they at least like Disney.

I was planning to be there, but it looks like I'm going to have to cancel my trip. The contract to sell our old house fell through, so it's a bad time to be planning to spend that kind of money. We've had another offer, but I'm not counting on anything until it actually closes. By that point it will probably be too late. So much for my first Christmas season at WDW. :(

Hey there Mike,

I will probably be heading up for this from Fort Lauderdale. I will most likely leave after work on Thursday and stay until Sunday. I haven't made any reservations yet though. I need to get on that!

Hi and welcome to the DIS! It will be great to meet a "neighbor" who is also a fellow DISer!

If the price for the Friday morning event is not outrageous, I will be leaving very early Friday morning. Hotels.com still had (as of yesterday) rooms at Pop Century for a decent price ... don't wait too long!

I will be there at that time until December 20th and staying at Pop. I wasn't aware of this event, gotta look into it!
Thanks for posting it over here Mike!

Bob

Word has been given that the final day for signing up for the DIS Unplugged Toy Story Mania party will be Oct. 28 an Noon eastern time.

Thanks for the welcome, Mike! I will be leaving around 4 pm on Friday. Unfortunately that means I will miss the wonderful morning session. I will look at the hotels.com deals. However, I will probably stay somewhere cheap in Kissimmee as I am traveling solo.

Check out the "Mona Lisa Hotel" in Celebration. I have friends who come up from Boca all the time and the Florida Resident rate is something like $70 a night. It's a VERY nice hotel.

I'm leaving for home the morning of the 11th so will miss most of the events. I may be at DHS on the 10th for the Osborne lights, unless I decide to see Illuminations one last time instead. How will I recognize the group if I get there? (Other than the fact that they will be the most fabulous looking bunch around, that is!)

Thanks for the tip, Conc. The Mona Lisa looks beautiful! I will keep that in mind for future trips. However, I doubt I will use it for this one since I am traveling solo. For about $70, I could stay on property. I will probably look for something cheaper and economize this trip.

Anything with the term "westgate" or "maingate" puts you very close to Disney property on 192. :thumbsup2

but "westgate" often means that you've got to sit through a timeshare presentation/tour to get the cheaper rate . . . . :rolleyes1

Only if it's Westgate Lakes, there are also resorts like "Days Inn Westgate" and stuff like that (just an example, I think the Days inn closed).
