Any geometry/math experts out here?

I'm appealing our property tax assessment and I need to figure out the square footage of the lots of the comparables. It's been long time since my geometry days. ;)

Can anyone help me out?

Here are the dimensions of the 3 lots that I need the square footage on.

134.85 X 123.45 X 83.5 X 43.45

75 X 87.16 X 140.49 X 184.90

76.79X 56.73 X 106.47 X 118.35

Thanks!

Need to know the shape. Are those (roughly) length x length x width x width? Or are those the lengths as you go around? Basically - which two are across from each other?

I have no pen or paper....but off the top of my head...two triangles attached together for each piece of property...calculate each property based on that--then add together and you will have the area.

Unless it were a perfect shape---that is what I would do. (perfect being a parellegram, rhombus, circle, triangle, trapezoid, etc....).

As a quick calculation, I'd multiply the average width by the average depth of each lot:

i.e.,

(134.85 + 123.45)/2 = 129.15 : the average depth of the first lot

(83.5 + 43.45)/2 = 63.475 : the average width of the first lot

Therefore, approximate area = depth x width = 129.15 x 63.475 = 8198 sq. ft.

Lot 2: Approximate area = 13 191 sq. ft.

Lot 3: Approximate area = 7504 sq. ft.

Aha...here is an explanation of what I (sort of) was taking about and what the last poster posted...you need the shape so that you can have diagonal dimensions and such. You need more info.

once you know the diagonal or angles of your shape, then you can use this link to calculate the area.

The 2 longest lengths are the sides of the yards. The shorter two are the front and back.

Thanks!

The link worked pretty well. I had to guess one of the angles but it's close enough.

Thanks again for your help!
