Was curious if there was any fees you had to pay if you decided to do the monthly installments instead of the once a year lump sum? Since we have owned at DVC we have always paid in the lump sum - problem is it seems to hit us at the same time we pay our taxes, etc. I was just thinking it may be better if we just paid monthly our due fees as long as there weren't any fees associated with doing so.

Follow-up question - do you start paying for 2012 dues this year (i.e. a year ahead)?

dues are paid on a calendar-year basis. so you are paying 2011 dues this year.

BTW, to pay monthly, you have to use a U.S.-based checking account. no credit cards.

And it's an auto-withdrawal. They pretty much know it's coming to them.

Someday I'll set up a "sinking fund" where I'm saving ahead of time to pay them up front (with some sort of card that I get rewards on), but for now I'm good with paying them through the year for that year. :)

I seem to remember my CM telling me there was a discount either by setting up autopay or paying upfront. Member services might give better details than me. i could be wrong.

both our loan payment and dues payment come out on the 15th of every month, from our savings account. painless and no fee's. we also go on the dvc member website to make extra principal payments on our loan.

Not on dues. I believe they give you a break on the financing rate if you are setup for direct debit.
