Any experiences with Travelocity in refunds?

To try to keep this short, we booked airfare for our August trip from Rochester to Orlando through Travelocity on Delta. The price was good but the main reason for booking was getting nonstop flights both ways so the kids would get home at a decent time. I got a notice today from Travelocity saying that Delta changed our return flight so we now have a stop in Atlanta and won't get home until after midnight with the drive now. I want to cancel the flight but they say they have a no cancellation no refund policy. Has anyone experienced this? I may call them or call Delta to see if they still have the nonstop we wanted and will switch us, but I really don't want to come home that late with the kids. Anyone with experience with similar situations please advise. Thanks

My experience with getting a refund from Travelocity happened about 4 years ago and took a lot of work on my part for something they screwed up. I shake my head when I see their current ad campaign about setting things right immediately. Maybe they learned from past customers like myself.

My situation was not like yours. In my case, I booked a direct nonstop flight leaving on a weekend during spring break. I got to the ticket counter and the airline had no record of my reservation...in spite of the printed confirmation I had in my hand. The ticketing agent talked with the Travelocity person, who refused to give a code that would have allowed the agent to issue us boarding passes. What I had to do was buy four more tickets at the counter that day (which wasn't too bad but I think the ticketing agent took pity on us). My real ordeal began when I returned home and had to deal with Travelocity to get a refund for their mistake. I got my refund but nothing else to compensate for the substantial time and inconvenience.

Maybe things have changed at Travelocity. In any case, document everything. I have no idea if your situation warrants a refund. About ten years ago we had a similar thing happen on an airline....a direct nonstop flight was changed to a connecting which required about an 8 hour layover on Thanksgiving day. All we had to do in that situation was state it was unacceptable. The airline booked us on another carrier's flight for that day without placing any additional costs on us.

Good luck. Hopefully, it'll be resolved favorably for you without much ado.
