Hi,

Forgive me if this is posted elsewhere. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with splitting the dining plan during their DVC stay. We are renting pts and would like to split the dining plan. Half regular and half deluxe. I know it has to be consecutive nights of your stay. Has anyone had any experience with this yet? Do you still need to check out and check back in. Has it been a hassle or caused problems with the reservation. Any advice would be appreciated. Being able to split it would be ideal but if it is going to cause problems we would probably re consider.

TIA

I have done this twice now, but between the QSDP and the DDP. We liked it because we only want to do a few TS meals throughout our trip and being on the regular DDP the whole time was just too much.

When we did it, we were also doing a split stay so the plans changed when we changed resorts so not a hassle at all.

With the new system, you can customize the plan (not consecutive nights) but it requires segmenting the reservation. As a renter, you will have to find an owner who is willing to do this as it takes a bit more work. And, the DDP needs to be paid for when it is added so all owners renting points may not be willing to do it now.

I am going to be doing this for the first night of my stay--getting just the DxDDP for night 1 at BWV. When we change to BLT on night 3, I may be doing the same thing. This will cover 4 of our 6 days of dining.

Good luck!

I am doing this also deluxe/regular in same room.

YOu don't have to change rooms....but you do have to go to front desk and get new room keys. This is a new computer system so there have been reported problems of dining credits not showing up after on "old card" when you still have some left.

If this happens just charge your food and the front desk will reimburse you. Hopefully they have this straightened out soon.

Thanks guys. I checked with the renter and he said no problem and basically the same thing ...that we would have to check out and check back in again.
So I'm thinking that as long as we use up all our dining credits from the first half of the trip that we shouldn't have a problem. We already purchased tickets so they won't be on out key card so we should be pretty safe right?
Sorry, just a little nervous about it. I dont' want it to get messed up and have to change rooms or something.

Thanks all
Would love to hear more experiences.

You know you have to pay for it when you add it or when you modify the reservation.

And when you split up the reservation there is a chance you could lose the part that is cancelled to modify the reservation. I nearly lost the last night of my GV reservation last week when I moved it forward two days. Even though the first two days were available, my reservation was composed of two reservations. They cancelled and moved the first one. Then when they tried to move the second one, a single day, it wasn't available. I had to work with a supervisor for a while trying to get it back.

I do know that is has to be paid for at the time of adding it to the reservation. We're not going until October so we probably won't add it until closer the the 180 day mark so we can book our dining reservations already linked to the dining plan.
I was unaware about possibly losing part of the reservation because of a modification. Thanks for the info.

We have been to WDW many times, but this time I am debating if we should do DDP or not. We have done DxDDP, DDP, and cash. We always have tons of snack credits left at the end of our trip. DxDDP was WAY too much food. DDP is nice, because everything is pre-paid....

My debate is over DDP or cash this trip?? Cast: DH, me, DS (17), DS bestfriend (17), DS (7), and DD (6). We are doing 5 TS meals, but only 2 of the TS meals are for all 6 of us (teenagers want to do their own thing). We are DVC members and staying at BLT in a 2 bedroom. Anyway, should I add DDP for at least the 2 days that the teenagers will be doing a TS with us?

Wish we could do QSDP for the teenagers and DDP for the 4 of us:wizard:

We did not have to change rooms or check in again. We got one card at checkin and it said Multi DVC DDP. It did cause some confusion for the servers at the different restaurants!
