Any experience with being wait-listed?

My daughter and her soon-to-be-ex husband are DVC members. She is to take over the membership when the divorce is final. She had made reservations for us and my son's family for early October at Saratoga Springs with wait-listing at two other resorts. Today my soon to-be ex-son in law called and cancelled the reservations. My daughter is trying to salvage the planned vacation, but has only been able to get put on the waiting lists.

Has anyone here been wait-listed and gotten something close to what they wanted?

Are any of the nights available? I recently made a reservation for Nov 21 to 25 at SSR with waitlist at AKV Kidani and Jambo. Kidani had 3 of the 4 nights available but I didn't want to take a chance on having to move so I waitlisted all 4 nights. It came through overnight. Now I'm waitlisted for BWV and BCV but none of the nights are available so I don't have high hopes. I haven't had luck in the past with waitlists, this is the first time one came through.

What a bummer and not nice thing to do!!

As for waitlist; we have been very lucky and have gotten the dates we have wanted, but usually we have some booked with a day or two that we are waiting to occur. October is hard, though, and tough to get a date. But maybe with a little hope and some pixiedust: you will get your wish.

WOW, no wonder he is a soon-to-be ex.

We are booked Oct 3 - 8th at SSR and to tell you the honest truth almost everything is booked for those dates.

It might be possible that member service could pull some strings but being this close I wouldn't take my chances. Would it be possible for your daughter to book something from the Disney collection for you? Even if it was a moderate having a room at Disney is better than no room at all.

On a side note, I wish her the very best. Divorce is never an easy thing.

I'm not trying to be insensitive, but even if your daughter can get you another reservation (and October is going to be tough tough touch), what's to stop him from cancelling that one, too? If I were in your shoes, I'd probably just book a cash room and stay away from DVC for now.

A friend is going through a nasty divorce right now and there is a lot of fighting about the two (non-Disney) timeshares they own. My friend is planning on banking all points until the divorce is final because he thinks his soon-to-be ex would do something similar.

I think your dtr needs to get in touch with MS and establish a way to protect her future reservations from the ex.

If both are listed as owners, I do not think there is a way to do this until after the divorce is final and she (or he) has a court order to remove one of them from the contract.
