Any DVCrs out there keeping an eye out for free dining here soon? I just wonder if any of you will be booking a value resort room just to get the free dining. (If the values are allotted the Regular free dining plan) Of course, it would'nt really be free dining, as you would have to pay for the cost of the room each night, but four a family of four, it could for sure be discounted dining. Just a thought.

we're hoping for fd (our group of 32!) with four villas but we won't change to a value even if it was free! Been there, done that, didn't like it.

We would never stay at a value just for free dining. We are upgrading my ticket to an AP and getting the TIW card. We feel this is a better value...we use the points from our DVC membership, order what we want at every restaurant and save money on everything we order. I wouldn't pay for a value at rack rate either and not stay there...I remember a post recently when someone asked about doing that. Not worth it to me. Others of course may feel different.

I could see doing it if it were a family of four, (both kids 10 or over) If you were paying for the dining plan, that would be like close to 170 a night, right?
But the cost of a value room a night would be around 90 bucks with the Regular free dining.

The last couple of free dining offers were for the quick service plan if booked at a value.

Has anyone ever booked a value room for the free dining and then stayed on points at DVC? With a family of 4 plus 10+, you would definitely save.

Other posters have mentioned that DVC knows when you are staying at the resorts, would they "track" this and disallow it?

When the new reservation software comes online, that commuicates with cash reservations, who knows what will and won't be permitted? People have reported, so far, that they have been able to have a cash reservation and a DVC reservation at the same time in the past, but be aware that Value rooms will ikely on ly get the Quick Service dining plan free, and rumor has it that moderates may also be limited to the Quick Service free in 2011...stay tuned.

Ya, thats the rumor. But we are not sure just yet what will happen. It will be interesting to see though. If so, this would be the FIRST time that they would have done this tierd promo during the August/September timeframe.
