Hi everyone - we may be looking to relocate from Northern NJ to Bucks County PA. Since I always get such great advice here, thought I would see who is from Bucks County and if you have any suggestions on family-friendly towns to look for a house? Thanks so much!

I've lived in Hunterdon County,NJ for nearly 20 years. Just across the river from Bucks County. Both are very nice places to live. Very rural and scenic.
Good luck on house hunting.

Not sure what your interests are. Shopping, shows etc. But there are shopping areas in Doylestown, New Hope and Lambertville(NJ) and most are close enough to the Allentown area for shows.

Hey there! Allentown, Lehigh County here, just north of Bucks County!

I have lived in Bucks County for over 30 years and can answer some questions for you if you like. I currently reside in the central/upper part of the county. You can break the county into 3 general zones - upper, central and lower. Upper Bucks is still somewhat rural and close to Allentown/Bethlehem. Central Bucks holds the county seat of Doylestown and is still somewhat rural as well. Lower Bucks is a little more developed and obviously close to Philly. I think it depends on where your work is located - and how far/how long you are willing to commute. Each region has it's own unique towns/communities. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the school districts in the county either. Overall shopping is better in the upper and lower part of the county, I usually cross into montgomery county for my mall shopping, just happens to be close for me. Anyway, enough of my rambling, ask away!

So, is the new Goodnoe's as good as the old Goodnoe's?

Thanks to everyone for your replies, I really appreciate it. My husband has an office in Newtown. I am thinking Doylestown/Lahaska/Newtown? Looking for a small town feel. We currently live in a great small NJ town but can get to just about anything in 15 minutes. I am looking for a place that duplicates just that. THANKS!

We live in Newtown and love it. It is a great little historic town. We own at bcv, bwv, ssr and akv. The kids go to school in plumstead (close to doylstown). Plumstead is a great area too.

The thing we love best about Newtown is the great parks (canal, Tyler state...). Not that crazy about the schools though (though they are highly rated). Another weaknesses is no public libraries and swimming pools. I work in yardley and the mrs. Works in nj.

We love it here. 1050 miles to Disney.

I think the next dvc should be a Newtown theme. We have only lived here 2 years but We think all of bucks county is the best place to live in the world. It is simply awesome here. We should have a dvc meet at Issac newtons someday.:grouphug:

We live in Holland, PA - I've lived in Bucks County for 38 years minus the time I was in college. Newtown, Doylestown and Yardley all have that small town feel if you live in the borough.

Let me know if you have any specific questions about neighborhoods...

And with regards for Goodnoes - it's the kids of the original owner that run the place. Ice cream only, all original flavors - same taste and quality, just no other food...it is always busy there.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the update. We used to go to the old Goodnoe's for their "mile high" lemon meringue pie. So yummy!

I live in Plumsteadville and love it. It definitely is more rural but very close to Doylestown and New Hope but also not that far from the Montgomery County mall shopping. We own at AKV and agree - let's do a Bucks County meet!

We are not far from Bucks County! If you go to Lahaska be sure to visit Peddlers Village!!!

We loved the Lower Makefield/Yardley area of Bucks County. It was a great place to raise our sons and we have many friends in the area still.

Bobbi:goodvibes

I lived in Bucks County for 50 years, moving to NJ 5 years ago. The Langhorne, Yardley, Newtown area can't be beat for small town feel w/ close proximity to everything you need...shopping and major highways to NY and Philadelphia.
