I've done the WDW marathon in the past but never as a DVC owner! This will be my first WDW race as a "resident" and I'm wondering who else out there will be joining me? Half? Full? or BOTH?! I'm going for that Goofy medal because a Donald and Mickey just aren' enough! :yay:

WOW, the goofy, impressive!! My mom and dad are both running the half. My sister is running the full. I'll be cheering them on from the sidelines. I'll be 6 weeks post knee surgery, so no participating for me!

I ran the half last year and stayed at SSR. What a fiasco with the buses there! I would love to go again this year, but my wife is due to have our second baby in January. Maybe next year

I am signed up for the 1/2! I just did the Minnie in May.. it was my first.. and lots of fun! I am looking forward to the 1/2.. but really have to get my butt in gear and start training... It was a fabulous experience! I guess I should book my room! DUH! LOL!!

Ran the WDW marathon in 2000. Stayed at Dixie Landings. Got on the bus 2 hours before race. It took an hour of stop and go traffic on Disney roads to get to EPCOT parking lot. Maybe 2 or 3 miles as the crow flies. All resort buses were a fiasco. In 2004 I ran the half. I stayed at the Poly and took the monorail to the start. They run the monorail extra early for the races. The half finished in the employee lot near the Poly. I walked back to my room. The Poly, IMHO, is the only way to go. That is, if you are going to run. The DVC resorts will all have to contend with the traffic.
I did talk to a runner who stayed at OKW. He was able to walk across the highway to the start line. He was almost turned back by security, but someone near the starting corrals had collapsed (false alarm). This gave Danny the opportunity to get to his starting corral. I would not reccomend this route.

DW is doing the 1/2 and I'm doing the fool, er full, marathon. Got an email from WDW Sports Marathon Endurance that the 1/2 is now full and the full is at 80%. The Goofy has long been closed, but there are some charities that have spots for both the 1/2 and Goofy.

Looking at the course map , I went ahead and booked rooms at POFQ. From there, I just plan to walk to the starting line.

Two of my daughters are running the half-marathon and the other is registered to run her third marathon in as many years. Also, my dd's bf is going to be running in the marathon. We're staying at SSR, our home resort. Good luck running the Goofy. The best I can do is cheer everyone on. I'll be there doing that! Marie

I'll be at SSR as well!! I'm staying for 4 days with the marathon friends, then I'm kicking them out because hubby, toddler, AND A BABYSITTER are coming on Sunday and we're staying for another week!!! A 10 day WDW vacation....my dream come true!! We should have a post race DVC get together!!

I did the Goofy this past Jan. and stayed at SSR. There was a problem with Getting the buses to SSR. Once we got on I thought the ride to start area was fine.

I'll be going :goofy: again in 07, but I'll be staying at OKW this time.

I'm doing the half for the second year; last year I did it with Team in Training and stayed at Coronado Springs. This year the whole family is coming to OKW!

Our son is doing the Race For The Taste in October and the Marathon in January.

Staying SSR in October and OKW in January how is the transporation ?

Cruise-o-matic,

How do I find info about the charities that may still have open slots for the 1/2?

If you read over in the W.I.S.H marathon forum, there are many reports of people just walking over from OKW (and PO) - avoiding the busses and the long pre-race wait. Doesn't seem to be officially allowed, nor stopped.
