I'm looking to rent points towards a DVC in October. Seems the studio's and 1 bdrm's accomodate 4, then the 2 bdrms jump to 8 and are much more expensive. We'll be traveling with kids 11,9 & 5, so two queens and a sofa sleeper would be ideal.

Also, how strict are they on the # of people in the rooms. My 5 year old is small and would be fine in our pack-n-play!!! That way we could go with a studio or 1 bdrm.

Only the studio plus (dedicated studio) at the BWV accomodates 5. It has a queen bed and a double sleeper sofa. There is a small daybed for the 5th person that is suitable only for a small child. Sounds like it would work for your 5 year old.

Unfortunately, even though you can request the dedicated studio, there is no guarantee you will get it.

DVC studios and 1 bedroom units accomodate 4 persons plus a child under 3 (that can use the portable crib for sleeping). The studios at OKW have two queen beds. All others have one queen bed and a sleeper sofa. The sleeper sofa in the BCV is a queen and in all the other WDW DVC studios, it is a double.

DVC does not provide cots, rollaways or extra bedding to accomodate more than the stated maximum. Your family would need a 2 bedroom.

As far as how strict they are about the maximum occupancy - well, questions like that often generate heated debate on this Forum. Those who wish to discuss that topic are directed to the Debate Forum. So if this thread gets locked, don't take it personally.

Best wishes -

There are no DVC studios or 1-B/R units that will get you two queens and a sofa sleeper. That's why they sleep 4.

OKW: Studio = 2-Queens
OKW: 1-B/R = 1 King and 1 Sofa-Sleeper

All the other WDW DVC's:
Studio = 1 Queen and 1 Sofa Sleeper
1-B/R = 1 King and 1 Sofa Sleeper

You'd be better off in the junior suite at the WL, that sleeps six, two queens and a sleeer sofa, and the price is suprisingly reasonable (all things relative at WDW!).

Another thing to consider when asking how strict are they on the # of people in the rooms. Disney is testing in May a new program for extended hours for Disney resort guests at the parks. To be able to participate each guests needs a valid resort ID to get a wristband to ride the rides during the extended hours. If you do not tell them the truth about room occupancy someone is going to be left out of having a room ID.

Also, check out the cabins at Fort Wilderness. They seem to be one of the cheaper deluxe resorts (I cannot figure out why!!!) A cabin will sleep 6, comes with a full kitchen, and you can pull your car up to the cabin. All for about the price you would pay for a single deluxe hotel room (or a night's worth of points at a DVC resort), and the location is VERY close to the MK.

This is my FAVORITE place to stay (so far) at WDW.

Good luck,
Beca

But even if you look at point rental for a 2 bedroom at OKW, the cost will still be significantly less than reserving through Disney. A 2 bedroom at OKW will be the least money for you to go with for a group of this size. Having the second bathroom for the kids and the full size laundry room as well as the full kitchen will help you save money in other ways as well.

I have booked a studio plus for myself and my 4 kids twice, and had no trouble getting it. When I booked, I was told the studio plus was merely a request, not guaranteed. But the agent went on to say that preferance was given to parties of 5. I simply packed my son's sleeping bag just in case I did not get the plus room, but it was not needed either time. I made sure to check-in before lunch, even though the room was not ready, with my confirmation in hand stating we were a party of 5. The front desk staff was very accomodating, and confirmed that we had a studio plus(that would not be ready until 4 pm). I think your chances are very good of getting the studio plus, especially if you book as close to the 11-month window as possible, and check-in before lunch.
