Don't think there will be enough space for the two families in a 2 bedroom, as the living room is small - don't even think all 7 of us could sit in there.

Two families traveling together so we were wondering if there are any adjoining/connecting (I forget the distinction). We are looking for an internal door between the two villas.

Don't think there are any but it never hurts to check with the experts.

Not that I'm aware of. Have you considered a Grand Villa?
Otherwise I think you'd be best off with a 2 bdrm + a 1 bdrm (but it wouldn't be connecting.

OKW has some really large units, you might want to stay there.

There are no connecting 1BRs (meaning having an internal door between the two rooms). If you are concerned with living room size in 2BR, OKW's is huge and those at AKV Kidani and BLT are very large. You could attempt to reserve two1BRs and ask that they be adjoining (meaning next to each other) which exists when two 2BR lock-offs are next to each other. However, that is not a guaranteed request and not one you should expect to be easily met.

OKW 2BRs are over 1400 sq.ft. with a couch, love seat, sleeper chair, dining table with 4 chairs all in the living/dining room plus another table and 4 chairs on the balcony/patio. The 2nd BR will also have a table and 2 chairs.

At most of the other onsite DVC resorts the 2BRs are under 1200 sq ft with a similar layout excluding the love seat and table sizes.

GVs (at all resorts that have them) are 2100 2300+ sq. ft. with a large living room. GVs are found at OKW, BWV, SSR, AKV and BLT.

Good luck with your plans! :)

One bedroom villas only connect to studios to make a two bedroom lockoff. They never connect to another one bedroom. But they may be close to another one bedroom.

We have had two families in an OKW two bedroom villa a few times and had plenty of room. We wouldn't do it at any other DVC resort.

I am sure it depends on the ages of everyone in your travel parties, but we have done a two family stay twice in a BLT 2 bedroom and it worked fine both times. The third full bathroom really does help, and we found the living room there to be fairly good size. One trip we had 9 people (4 adults and 5 children), and the other trip we had 6 people (4 adults and 2 children). The time with 9 people was a little busier, but still really worked fine, and the time with the 6 people never felt cramped to us at all. Now certainly a GV would be even more spacious, but we couldn't swing the points for these trips. Would love to some time in the future though maybe with banking or borrowing!!! Hope this helps.

Which resort are you at? In Dec we were in a 2BR at BLT and had 7 people comfortably sitting in the living room. It would have been fine with a couple more. At AKV we've had 6 very comfortably sitting in the living room (and no - not all staying the the room). All this was utilizing various parts of seating including a person at the banquet seating or using bar stools but no one was at all uncomfortable.

We were in a 2 bedroom with 5 adults and 1 child in Dec. It was huge.

Last year we visited a friend staying in at OKW in a 2 bdrm. 7 adults all sat in the living room area. 4 at the table, and 3 on the couches, really didn't feel crowded at all. The 2 bdrm at OKW are huge as big as my first home.

Last August we had 8, 4 adults, two teenagers and two little boys in a 2 bedroom at AKV Jambo House Value and it all worked out.

We have done a 2 bdrm at OKW with 8 adults and nobody felt like they were tripping anyone. Except for my teenage daughter but then not much would be big enough for her.

OKW would be plenty big enough for you, or have thought about the tree house villas at SS? That might be a better fit.
