Any DVC Members become Semi-Finalist in Moms Panel Contest?

Just wondering if any DVC members are semi-finalists in the Disney Mom's Panel contest? After reading some other posts, it appears that being a DVC member may have been an exclusionary factor in the contest. I hope I'm wrong. It would be unfortunate for those Disney fans that made a substantial long-term investment in Disney vacations to have been eliminated from the contest.

I would not be surprised if they do not pick any DVC members since they may be afraid that you would tell potential Disney guests about renting points instead of booking through Disney.

I was just reading about this possibility somewhere else. If true, it would have been nice if they would have just included it in the exclusions (ie no CMs or relative that is a CM).

Would have saved me some time, effort and needless hope.

I received my rejection letter yesterday. I didn't disclose my membership however. I suppose it doesn't help that I used the same email I use for the member site. :rotfl2:

no "insiders/DVC" that's why i keep telling myself I didn't get picked either:laughing:

saw there were a couple still in the running listed on the new passporter newsletter i read

When did the rejection letters start going out? I haven't gotten one yet...:confused3 .... can you point me in the direction of the other threads on this? Thanks!

There are threads on both the DIS's Family Board and the Community Boards.

Reject here, too. If I recall right on the rules there was something about not being able to enter if you had an interest in Disney or something along those lines. I remember pausing and thinking if that meant DVC... We also have stock, too. Who knows? But apparently there have been no DVCers to say they got accepted and this surprises me since I think our group are probably among those who go most often and have a greater knowledge of WDW given we put investments into it. We all obviously have a deep love for Disney. :confused3

I can't believe how bummed this got me. I knew when they announced they would take 10,000 applicants that there was no chance to win. Oh, well. We have four trips planned right now and another family would probably appreciate the free trip more than us. :)

I have not heard anything yet. What a bummer it would be to be disqualified for being a DVC member.

According to the reject letter...

Because of the incredible passion you and so many others have shown for Walt Disney World Resort®, we've been inspired to explore more concepts for programs -- beyond the Moms Panel -- to engage moms and dads like you who want to share their passion for the Parks. We plan to follow up with you in the near future with more details.

Looks like we're going to see more of these types of panels/concepts from Disney.

Can you imagine how impossible it was to pick those entrants who made it to next round? There are so many on this board who applied who would be SO GOOD at this (a lot more knowledgable than me for sure.). I think Disney is honestly trying (or should be) to figure out how to tap into all this expertise and enthusiasm.

Maybe there will be something devoted to DVC in the future? :rolleyes1
If it weren't for DISboards, I wouldn't have bought into DVC. Sure did more than any of the Disney marketing materials for me.

Someone posted a different "rejection" email on another thread. It appears there are two different ones circulating. One that says - We plan to follow up with you in the near future with more details. And another that didn't say that. Maybe they're planning on having a broader discussion forum than originally planned? :confused3

Disclaimer...I'm not putting a lot of stock in what I am about to say...

BUT

If I recall correctly, didn't the details mention that you serve on the panel for 6 months?

And if that's the case, what happens after 6 months? Does the panel go kaput? Kind of would defeat the purpose to help people plan if you only do it for 6 months.

Maybe they plan to choose another set of panel-sitters. Maybe (I don't know why they would do this) they sit on these apps that they received and re-visit it IF they intend to replace panelists every 6 months.

Again...not really believing what I am saying...not planning on believing squat or getting my hopes up in any way...but who knows...

And who knows...maybe I dreamed up that 6 month thing...it's been a long day and I could be overtired...

I was rejected, too. But I didn't realize there were two different letters going out. Maybe there's still hope!!

I was rejected too! I took it really hard at first. I know it was a long shot..but still I had hope.

A Canadian and a DVC'er that didn't make it, did I stand a chance?? Oh well, I didn't know there were two letters either, I got the one that said we may contact you in the future, so here's hoping. They did say that you had to agree to at least 6 months. I am guessing that they will weed through the
2nd stage entries and choose the first 12 and then have back-ups and a list of entrants that will "take over" after a panelist leaves. Who knows. Maybe they will have a DVC board as well??

Is there anyone else out there who still hasn't heard? I haven't heard anything - checked all email addresses - and nothing there. :confused3 Did any of the letters come via reg mail?

I got rejected too. I hadn't read enough of the other threads to get to the theory that no DVCers were selected. I really hope that wasn't a criteria, but it would be very easy to do. Based solely on my disney log-in, which was required to submit the entry, you could quickly see that I'm a DVC member, AP holder, occaisionally add cash nights, and often do cruises on cash. I'm sure there is a bunch of other easy bits of info they could use as well. Oh well . . . I can't imagine that any "official" Disney panel could ever be as helpful as the people on the Dis!!
