Any Doll Collectors out there? I could use some help...

After years of looking at my dolls from when I was a kid sit in a box and collect dust and listening to DH complain that since we have all boys they need to go I finally caved. So aside from a few custom made rag dolls that I set aside in the distant hope of grandchildren I'm going to let them go. If they are worth anything I'd like to sell them and put the money aside to use for our next year's vacation. If they aren't then I'll donate them to charity. But that's the crux of my dilemma I don't know anything about doll collecting. All of them are vintage, at least 30 years old, while many are even older as I got them at the flea market and they were old then. I don't know where or how to determine value and could use a little help figuring out where/how to look them up. Are there any good books or any places that the sell online besides e-bay? I tried e-bay but was overwhelmed by the number of dolls. Can anyone help me by pointing me in the right direction? I can post some photos if that would help.
