I'm trying for a mental image of hotel distances to the parks & DTD. Unfortunately, I'm not very good with visualizing a 1/2 mile, mile, etc. :o How do the onsite & offsite hotels @ DLR compare in distance to Universal's hotels & their parks?

Haven't stayed onsite but have been there. You will find the onsite hotels are very close to the parks, (for Orlando!). Between 5-10 minutes walk.

We didn't stay onsite - we drove there from Disneyworld - parking was easy. You park near the City Walk, which links the two parks. Depending on when you are going, you will be able to see most of the parks in a day, possibly two. In January (very quiet) we rode all headliners, some more than once, took in several shows, ate, spent plenty of time in places like Seussville, and were still all done with both parks in a day.

that might help you decide how critical on or off site location is

I think the OP was asking for the other way around (i.e. how does the distance between the Hotels and Parks at DLR compare to UOR, as opposed to how UOR compares to DLR).

I don't visit UOR that often (which given that I live less than 5 minutes away and have a Preferred AP, is really sad, lol), but from my experience, the walk from the Hard Rock Hotel to USO Park Entrance is about the same as the walk from DLH to the Main Entrance Plaza.

Royal Pacific to IoA Park Entrance would be roughly the same distance as GCH to the Main Entrance Plaza.

PPH to Main Entrance Plaza would be roughly the distance between USO Park Entrance and the Portofino Bay cut in half.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the reply. We have stayed onsite at Universal several times. That's the only way we visit there, & we live 1 hr. 15 min. to 1 1/2 hrs to the parks. We love the onsite experience there.

Thanks for the comparisons. I'm a bit confused though. I thought GCH was the closest resort to the parks. It sounds like DLH is. Did I read that correctly? For example, HRH is actually closer to Universal Studios & CW than RPR is to IOA & CW. Either way, the walk doesn't sound that bad. We always walk from HRH. From RPR, we walk some & ride the boats some. From PBH, we always ride the boat. I'm glad to see PPH isn't as far from the parks as PBH is to US & IOA. We're not sure which hotel we'll choose, so distance info on all of them is very helpful.
