Any discounts for buying VGF on a cruise now?

And will NOT be any for at least 9-12mo..
At least that's what I was told..
As long as GF continues to sell well on its own, Disney has no reason to add any incentives..

Anyone know if any discounts/offers/onboard credit are being offered for buying villas at Grand Floridian on the Disney Cruise? Thanks...

We just finished a cruise. I stopped by the DVC info desk to pick up our member gifts, but we are not interested in more points right now so I did not pay close attention to what was being offered. She mentioned double points at VGF, I think, and triple points at Aulani - I'm assuming that's 1 or 2 years worth of developer points. I specifically remember her saying "double points" but am not sure which resorts, and "triple points for Aulani." She did not mention price per point. I see one year of developer points or developer credit mentioned on DVCNews, and no developer points for other resorts, so perhaps that is an extra perk for buying on a cruise. Sorry I can't be of more help!

ETA: It's possible that one extra year of points is not really a bonus, just what you automatically get based on the UY being sold. For example, if they are selling September UY you would get 2013 points, plus 2014 this September. People have reported guides referring to this as special bonus points when they are not.

When we were onboard in February, they were really pushing Aulani with discounts (minimal discounts, nothing I would jump at). Definitely no discounts on VGF mentioned though

Ding ding ding - we've got a winner! ;)

Aulani does have a special of receiving actual developers points though or you may take a cash discount instead. As I understand they need to be used at Aulani.

However, 'double points' or Developer Points are a GREAT deal... IF.... you do not have to pay MF's on them!

We received points at Saratoga when we bought AKV in 2008, and didn't pay MF's until we received our 2008 points in December. So we had 2007 UY Developer Points to use at Saratoga as soon as we bought, even thought we didn't pay any MF's until December of 2008.

AKV- Kidani had not opened yet, so that's the reason for the Saratoga Points.

Looking back, we kind of wish we had actually bought our points at Saratoga instead of AKV - the fees are lower, and AKV is usually available at 7 months.
However, one of these years we will actually get a Club Level room... one of these years! HAHA

However, the best direct buy we made was BLT, a cash discount AND a 7 night cruise!

Best resale deal ever was our HHI contract at $41.85 per point... and it was a loaded contract too! We haven't seen anything at HHI sell that low in AGES!

Wow, that BLT purchase was a good deal. Was that a one time special that they were running?

One good thing about Jim Lewis was he liked to keep the sales numbers running high during the recession. There were usually some sort of specials like that during the first year or two of sales at Kidani, BLT and VGC.
