I know you can get regular MYW passes at a discount from places like Undercover Tourist or AAA but is there any place to get a discount when buying annual passes? Or do you have to get those directly from Disney? It's been many years since we had APs but we're going to be buying them this fall.

Buy a discounted ticket from a discounter.
Then, use that ticket to go into a theme park at least once.
Then, upgrade to AP.

How do they calculate the upgrade value of your ticket?

Here's the whole deal:

First, find the absolute best deal you can on a multi-day MYW ticket from a reputable WDW ticket discounter.
You will want to choose a ticket to buy from the discounter that offers the most savings, but only on a ticket that costs
(at the WDW gate) LESS than an AP.
-----------------------------------------------------

Here are some popular, reliable links for info and/or tickets:

http://www.undercovertourist.com

http://www.ticketmania.com

http://www.mapleleaftickets.com

And, AAA travel offices can often be a good source.

-----------------------------------------------------

Buy your MYW ticket from the discounter.
(Likely the best deal will be on a ticket with a larger number of days on it.)

When you get to WDW, USE your discounted ticket to go into a THEME PARK at least one time
BEFORE you do the upgrade.

THEN, go to any Guest Relations or Ticket Window at the park, TTC, or DTD.
Upgrade to an AP.

Since you have USED a day of your discounted ticket,
you will receive the CURRENT full GATE PRICE of a brand new ticket of that same kind when you trade in your discounted ticket.

So...
You will get to "keep the discount" you got on the MYW ticket, but you will then be buying an AP as if you had paid full current gate price for the MYW you are trading-in.

I don't know if they still offer them but I got a discount on my AP at AAA. You can not renew through them unless you are a FL resident.

APs are not available through all AAA locations.
AAA is actually operated regionally. Not all branches offer the same kind of WDW tickets and discounts.

There is a branch of AAA (the Auto Club) called "AAA South" that serves
Florida, Georgia, Middle & West Tennessee, and Puerto Rico.

If you go to their offices, they have WDW AP's (Florida Resident, and NON-Florida Resident) at a discount.

I don't think they can mail them, so this would work if you were driving to WDW and could make a stop along the way.

That makes sense, I live in Georgia so that is who I use but I don't go to their offices, they are in Atlanta, I'm not. I just call them or email them and they emailed me vouchers which I printed and activated at MK.

Just so I'm clear on this, if we use one day of the pass, we'll get the full value toward the upgrade. It won't be prorated to account for the day already used?

The activation date of the new AP will revert to the date you first used your ticket to enter a Theme Park. So it will expire one year from the day you first used the original ticket. Is that what you mean by Prorate?

No. I meant if I go in with a 5-day pass, will they give me the value of a 5-day or only of a 4-day since one day has already been used.
Full value.
Thanks.
