I'm wearing a "test pump" with saline to see if I like the way it feels. I figure what better time than this weekend since i'll be at WDW.

The lady that gave me the pump said to not take it on Tower of Terror because the magnets in the ride can mess your pump up. I'm definetly listening to her considering if I do anything to damage this pump I'll have to pay $6,000+ for it.

Have any of you experienced any other problems with rides and the pump?

There will probably be some pumpers along soon to give some first hand information - but until then, there are some things in the disABILITIES FAQs thread that you can look at. Post #3 of that thread has some links in alphabetical order under Conditions and Concerns that would be helpful. One is about electromagnets (WDW does not have any warnings on any attractions for magnets) and there are some other links to past threads about diabetes that include information from pumpers.

From everything I have read, Tower of Terror is not an attraction that uses electromagnets. It is basically just an elevator that works the same basic way that other elevators do. The person who warned you may have read about a different Tower of Terror, which is a roller coaster in an amusement park in Australia. The Australian Tower of Terror does use very strong magnets and references to it come up if you do a search for the words "Tower of Terror", and it is not all that evident when reading some of them that they are not talking about the one at WDW.

I've had an insulin pump for about 10 years. I've never heard this before. I've ridden Tower of Terror dozens of times in those 10 years and never had a single problem. Not with Tower of Terror or any other rides for that matter. Hope that helps.

DS wears an OmniPod and we have not heard of any problems with rides at WDW. He is too scared to go on ToT s we have not tried it for ourselves. However, according to the parent's group I am a part of, there have not bee reported issues (lots of pumpers in this group).

Hope you like your trial. DS(8) would not consider a pump until his CDE showed him the OmniPod. He loves it and would not willingly go back to shots now.
