The reason why I ask, is I have been searching web for mobile soft play for DS 1st birthday party, there is nothing in the north east.

So been looking at equipment and started to think :scared1: doesn't happen often :rotfl2:.

What would I need apart from $$$$ to set a company up.

A business plan.
A marketing strategy
A location
An outline on how you will register your business
A basic crash course in Employment Laws wouldnt hurt
A Disclosure for working with children

There is an exhaustive list of what you will need, but if you start by focusing on what you have to have immediately on starting you can get that out of the way first

Good thinking
Hard work though, but I am sure you will have lots of fun

If you do get the business started, then insurance is a must.

As Rohais mentioned a good link would probably be Businesslink.

Also if you look in your local papers, they sometimes have advertisments for groups who help with this kind of thing face to face. There are quite a few good organisations that will not charge you eg Princes Trust etc, or will at least point you in the direction of people who can help.

Good Luck and keep us posted :goodvibes

Progress so far,

I have contacted business link today, who are sending me the templates for business plans etc.

I haves priced up equipment, mainly for DS birthday party. Leaflets, cards and Internet advertisement. Been viewing company names to see what is registered already. :)

I suggest you find yourself a good accountant.

Tips to look for are:
  • Are they registered with either the ICAEW or ACCA?
  • Do they offer fixed prices?
  • Do they offer a free initial meeting?

They will help with set and be able to advise you on the best medium for trading (sole trader or limited company).

A good accountant will offer more help than just preparing annual accounts.

Good luck :thumbsup2

if working with children don't forget your CRB checks

Looks like you have made a pretty good start then. Keep it up:cheer2:

Yeah CRB won't be a prob :):) serving officer :)

Been at work last few days so things a lot slower.

So far found all the websites with best prices

Gazebo/marquee
Safety mats
Play set
Rocker
Hide n seek tunnel
Ball pool + balls

How are you getting on with the name?

What exactly will you be offering? Maybe we could help with name ideas on here?? :goodvibes

I have played around with names but nothing screams out :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Planning on offering soft play equipment like ball pool, large shapes, rockers and tunnel type of things. Musicall instruments drums/ shakers/ rattles etc. Aimed at 0-5 realistically 1-5.

Thinking of birthday/christening type parties where I set up and leave either in venue hired by parents or gazebo in there garden.

Just making it more personalised rather than large play centres that have 4 parties on at same time. And less daunting for the littlest of kids :thumbsup2

So name that fits that would be fantastic :thumbsup2

Just off the ring the companies where I have seen items, as DS party creeping up rapidly :thumbsup2

Took the plunge :scared1: lol

So hopefully should be ready to rock n roll in about 2 months.

Have ordered so far
16 piece soft play activity set
Gazebo (with sides)
Funky fish and monkey rocker (soft play)
Safety mats
Musical instrument set (drum/tamborin/maracas/shakers)
Xylophone
4 piece rattle type toy (rain maker/symbols) on spelling.

Still shopping around for a ball pool. And hide and seek tunnel

Priced up insurance which was very reasonable.

If doesn't work out, it's be an expensive party for DS :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Fantastic! :thumbsup2

Even if you don't decide to do it as a full time business, I'm sure that there will be other parents that come to the party and love the idea, so you may make back what you have spent just on hiring out to friends and family for a small fee.

However i think it is a great idea (I'm loving the sound of the stuff that you have bought) and fingers crossed you will do very well :thumbsup2

With reagrds to names, I'm still having a think but so far i have come up with.... wait for it......

Tots of fun :rotfl:

Sorry, i should have warned you first :lmao:
